Rate this book
She’s running for her life.
He’s the assassin hired to hunt her down.
A dangerous game of manipulation will twist their lives together.

Kimber Wellington skipped town with a USB drive that could collapse her family’s empire. After her sadistic step-brother, Marco, hostilely takes over the business from her father, he makes it his only priority to find Kimber and the information that could ruin him. Kimber has strategized how to stay out of Marco’s clutches, but she didn’t plan on the monster that finds her.

Rye Anderson is ruthless. He kills without regret, collects the paycheck and enjoys a solitary life. The last hassle he wants to deal with is tracking a socialite across the country, a job he accepts as a favor. Rye assumes that delivering the twenty-three-year-old college student will be a quick, easy payday. He soon realizes that his underestimation of Kimber could be a game changer.

WARNING: This is a sexually explicit, foul language filled non-traditional dark romantic suspense. It is not intended for sensitive readers or anyone under the age of 18.

So much enjoyed Manipulating the Assassin. Great characters, great dialogue and a sexy road trip. Spoiled college girl Kimber is running for her life. Her nasty step brother has stolen her father's company (and killed daddy too) and he wants her back. He sends an assassin, Rye, to bring her home (and make her life hell.) While the assassin knows what he's doing, he can't help but fall for Kimber. And it's so much more complicated than that. Hot sex scenes burn up the page! A great fast read! Will we see Tito and Marco in the future? Can't wait!

Needs a proofreader.

This is a 10,000 word (or thereabouts) short story and it's one of those stories that doesn't seem quite sure what it wants to be. Is it an erotica snippet? Not enough sex in it for that. There's not enough emotional detail for it to be a psychological suspense, we hardly get inside Kimber's head at all despite the story being told in first person.

The story also needs a thorough proofreading. There was a 'door jam' instead of a 'door jamb' in the first couple of pages and at another point where the suspense should have been building I ended up in a fit of the giggles as Rye 'unbuttoned his shit' instead of his shirt.

However, there was quite a cool little twist at the end I admit I didn't see coming and at the end of the book I put it down with a feeling that I'd actually quite enjoyed it. I'm in a good mood so I'm gonna be generous and give it three stars... but Mrs. Reign really needs to hire a proofreader at the very least or next time I run across her work I won't be so forgiving.

Unbuttoning his shit, indeed. *shakes head* Well, at least you gave me a giggle.

I give Manipulating the Assassin 5 stars. I felt fear for Kimber as she was on the lamb, but even more so once she met up with Rye. I laughed at the lengths she went to trying to manipulate him, and was happy to see someone get what they deserved.

Lauren Reign has delivered another great, all be it, short read. She gave a vivid description of the characters, and brought the plot from beginning to conclusion very well.

Kimber is running for her life and Rye has been hired to find her and bring her back. She is trying to manipulate him into letting her go, and she's quite creative about it. Unbeknown to her, he's just a bit better at this than she is. Who will win this game?

Kimber Wellington saw her father murdered and then skipped town with a USB drive with info about her father's business. Marco, her step brother, took over that family business and now he wants that info before she ruins him. Kimber is trying to stay out of his clutches, but she didn’t plan on Rye finding her. Did she cover her tracks well enough?

Rye Anderson, ruthless killer, is paid well for getting his mark. Rye figures this job will be quick and easy and he'll get paid well for doing it. Unfortunately, he didn't realize that Kimber wouldn't go down without a fight. Will he get his mark?

Manipulating the Assassin is a contemporary romance novella that pits good against evil. It's a lighthearted easy read. Fun characters, simple plot with a few twists thrown in.

I enjoyed this novella.

Ok let me start out by saying that this was TOO SHORT! I NEED NEED NEED MORE, OH SO MUCH MORE! Lauren Reign kicked things off with a bang, and my heart is still racing after I finished it. It never slowed down, and by the ending, I felt like I just ran a marathon. Her brilliant writing style obviously had me all in from the get go. Twists and turns around every corner kept me on the edge of my seat. And that last twist, well let's just say that loud f-bomb dropping was flying everywhere! Kimber was a great female that I totally loved even in all the shortness. I'm praying there is more as I feel like I was left hanging, of course this may just be me, but it is what it is. So anyway, I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND this high octane read to all!

This is my first book by Lauren Reign and i am glad i was able to voluntarily read an advance readers copy of this excellent short book. Manipulating the Assassin had a bit of suspense, action, twists and turns and romance. I don't want to give to much away but Kimber was kidnapped by her wicked stepbrother who wanted to take over the family empire and hired Rye to be the one to execute the plan but will he be able to? Will Kimber be more than just his prisoner? How will the story end? Pick up a copy and find out for yourself you will enjoy it. Can't wait to read more from this author.

Before picking up Manipulating the Assassin, I had NEVER heard of Lauren Reign! But I saw romantic suspense and knew I had to give it a shot. This is not the same old assassin ends up falling for his target. Oh no, this was one wild ride and the twists didn't stop coming.

Kimber finds herself literally in the fight for her freedom after her father is gunned down at the hands of her step-brother, Marco. She is quick and is able to give him the slip but she has something Marco wants so he enlists some help in getting it back. Enter Rye. Talk about tall, dark and dangerous.

Rye and Kimber butt heads at every turn. She challenges him and while it frustrates him, it also intrigues him. He can't deny his attraction to this fiery woman. When she turns the tables on him, all bets are off. I didn't see that little twist coming- at all! The rules have changed and a new plan is formed...

Overall, this short read was chocked full of sass and smarts. While I did find there to be a few small holes in the plot, the banter was sharp and made it easy to relate to and root for the characters (except Marco- he totally deserved what he got)!

I received an arc of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

First book I've read by Lauren Reign but definitely was a great time reading! Romantic Suspense is just such a fun genre to read. Add assassins in the mix and you've got a pretty solid book!

Kimber has a wicked step-brother, who murdered her father. While on the run Marco sends an assassin after her. Rye is charged with getting her back to Marco, which turns out to be no easy task. Kimber is a fiery heroine who is stubborn as hell with Rye. She never backs down, nor shows fear around him. I love a strong heroine! What is crazy is the twist of how Kimber turns the direction of the storyline on Rye.

My grievances are: wish there were more scenes between Rye and Kimber. Their sex is hot!!! And some of the plot had holes. Questions that I need answers to.

Overall a fun, quick read that I believe anyone who loves an action/suspense with their romance will enjoy!
