Triggered Reality

Rate this book
For most of Kansas City, it was a beautiful spring day. For Eric Clachan, it was the day he would get justice through bloodshed. A rifle would ensure that the spree killer would never destroy another family. He wouldn’t stop there. Eric had a list of other targets inside the prison walls. Targets that would ensure justice would change. A single day would change the world and pave the way for the US Marshals to become the baddest serial killer hunters in the world. Eric knew this as he looked down the scope and took aim. Max Goff needed to relax. His life had become overwhelming. He should have gotten a massage and spent a day with friends. Instead, he stole a car and began a killing spree that would terrorize an entire city. Until the newly formed US Marshals’ Serial Crimes Tracking Unit would come hunting for him and he would learn what fear really was.

Hadena James began writing at the age of eight. As a teenager, she had several short stories published in literary magazines. She completed writing her first novel at the age of 17.
Hadena graduated from the University of Missouri with a degree in European History with minors in German and Russian studies. She has always wanted to be a writer so she also took several classes in creative writing.

Hadena’s primary literary genre is action/thriller. She currently writes two series, both use action/thriller. “The Brenna Strachan Series” uses fantasy and the “Dreams & Reality Series” uses murder mystery as its secondary genre. She continues to explore and expand her writing and hopes to soon produce a comedic action/thriller.

When she isn’t busy writing or running her business, Hadena enjoys playing in a steel-tip dart league. She also loves to travel throughout North America and Europe. Her favorite cities are Chicago, Illinois and Berlin, Germany. She is an avid reader, reading everything from the classics like Jane Austen to modern writers like Terry Pratchett. One of her all-time favorite books is “Good Omens” by Neil Gaimen and Terry Pratchett. She writes all of her books while listening to music and the bands tend to get “honorable mentions” within the pages.

A very quick but absorbing read with firstly the viewpoint of Eric Clachan; how he came to be a mass murderer and how he helped bring about the formation of the Serial Crimes Tracking Unit. The second story concerned the formation of the first SCTU and their first serial killer case and hunt. On to the next in this thrillingly unusual series!!

Not a Good Beginning

This book is not like the rest of the series. I actually read what I thought was the first 5 books before I read this Book 1. This is background info much of which was covered in following books but it is more detailed. Since the books I had already read were edge of your seat thrill rides with characters and humor on overload, all 5 🌟, this book was a bit disappointing. If I had read this book first I would not have continued the series so if you want to get a real feel for this series start with Book 2. If you get hooked like I did you can read this book after to get a more detailed background.

While it’s not what I had expected from a Dreams & Reality novel, I thoroughly enjoyed this! It was a little too short for my taste but it was wonderful to learn more about Eric, the beginning of the SCTU, and the conspiracies that have been unfolding in the Dreams side of the series. I can’t wait for the next one!

I liked getting to know Eric a bit more and the lead in to the group being formed, but this story was just too short to get it's point across I think. Things happened way too abruptly to the point that it was all about what it was trying to get TO and not what it was trying to say then.

This book is a great beginning to the Dreams and Reality story. We see what happened to Eric Clachan, and how the original SCTU was then set up and their first real case. An interesting beginning to this companion series, and I can't wait to read the other books and follow more background stories and cases behind the Dreams and Reality world. Highly recommended!

Triggered Reality

I loved the tantalizing backstory on Eric. And the beginnings of the SCTU..but I wish it has been a longer and more involved story. Hope they find out who paid to have Eric's dad killed. And hope we read about aislinn getting Eric's letter and her reaction to it.
