Aa Chhe Siachen
જગતનું સૌથી વિષમ યુદ્ધક્ષેત્ર એટલે સિઆચેન. ૬,૦૦૦ મીટરની ઉંચાઈએ હિમપહાડોમાં આવેલા આ દુર્ગમ સ્થળે તાપમાનનો પારો શૂન્ય નીચે ૨૦થી ૫૫ સેલ્શિયસ રહે છે. ચીન અને પાકિસ્તાનની સરહદે આવેલું સિઆચેન લશ્કરી વ્યૂહાત્મક મહત્વ ધરાવે છે. અહીં રહેવું એટલે માત્ર શત્રુથી જ નહી, કુદરતના પ્રકોપથી પણ જાનનું જોખમ છે. અહીં રહીને ભારતીય લશ્કરના જાંબાઝ સૈનિકો જાન મુઠ્ઠીમાં લઈને આપણી સરહદનું રખોપું કરે છે. સિઆચેન અને ત્યાં ફરજ બજાવતા નરબંકાઓની કામગીરી, તેમના જીવનની વિષમતાઓથી વાકેફ કરાવતું અનોખું પુસ્તક.
આ પુસ્તક માટે 'સફારી'ના સંપાદક હર્ષલ પુષ્કરણાએ લીધેલી સિઆચેનની મુલાકાત ગુજરાતી પત્રકારત્વની સીમાચિહ્નરૂપ ઘટના છે. મુલાકાતના અનુભવો વર્ણવતું અને સૈનિકોના ઇન્ટરવ્યૂ કરીને લખાયેલું આ પુસ્તક ઠેર ઠેર રંગીન ફોટોગ્રાફ્સ ધરાવે છે અને તે ઉચ્ચ ગુણવત્તાવાળા ગ્લોસી આર્ટપેપર પર છપાયું છે.

‘આ છે સિઆચેન’ : વિશ્વના સૌથી વિષમ યુદ્ધક્ષેત્રની મુલાકાતનું સફરનામું
આ ટાઇટલ પૂરું કરતાં મને લગભગ અઢી મહિના ઉપર થયાં જે પૃષ્ઠ સંખ્યાને અને મારી વાંચન સ્પીડને હિસાબે બહુ લાંબુ ચાલ્યું.
કારણ એ જ કે ક્યારેય ૧૦ - ૧૫ થી વધુ પાનાં એક બેઠકે વાંચી શકાયા નથી.વિષય, કન્ટેન્ટ અને રજૂઆત એટલી અસરકારક છે કે એક વાચક તરીકે હું વિચારે ચઢી જતો કે
૧)શાસકની એક ભૂલની રાષ્ટ્રની પ્રજાએ દાયકાઓ સુધી કેવી કિંમત ચૂકવવી પડે છે
૨)વિષમ હવામાન સૈનિકનાં શારીરિક સ્વાસ્થ્ય અને આવરદાને કેટલી હદે નેગેટીવલી ઈમ્પેક્ટ કરે છે
૨)સૈન્યનો/જવાનોનો રાષ્ટ્રપ્રેમ અને ફરજપરસ્તી કેટલી ઉચ્ચ કક્ષાનાં છે કે દુશ્મનોનાં સૈન્યબળની ચેલેન્જ હોય કે વિષમ હવામાનનો હાહાકાર હોય એ જવાનને એક ઇંચ પણ ડગાવી નથી શકતો !
૩)એક વજ્જરની છાતી અને ફૌલાદી મનોબળ ધરાવતો સૈનિક પણ ફેમિલીથી મહિનાઓ દૂર,ખરાબ હવામાન, ટાંચા સાધનો અને દરેક ડગલે પરીક્ષા લેતા યુદ્ધ મોરચે એકલતા, ડીપ્રેશન અને હતાશાને દૂર રાખવા કેટલો ઝઝૂમે છે અને એક સામાન્ય નાગરિકનું એની કદર કરતું પોસ્ટકાર્ડ કે એક રાખડી એને માટે કેવી સંજીવની બુટ્ટી જેવું કામ કરે છે !
૪)જ્યાં એક સરેરાશ નાગરિક તરીકે હું મારી સગવડો ને કમ્ફર્ટ ઝોનની ચિંતા કરવામાંથી ઉચો નથી આવતો ત્યારે સિઆચેન યુદ્ધ મોરચે એક જવાન દેશ અને મારા જેવા કરોડો દેશવાસીઓ જે એના કોઈ જ લાગતા વળગતા નથી એને માટે તન મન ધન થી કેટલું મોટું બલિદાન આપી રહ્યો છે અને એ પણ મૌન રહીને જરાય બોલકો થયાં વગર. આ ઋણ ઉતારવાનું મારું શું ગજું !
ભારત અને ભારતનાં સૈન્ય માટે પ્રેમ,આદર અને સમ્માન ધરાવતા દરેક ગુજરાતીએ ચોક્કસ ખરીદીને વાંચવા જેવું પુસ્તક.

Not enough for this book.
This book has left very positive and profound effect on me, like none other and Icing on the cake is, this book is not spiritual / fiction but it falls under Non fiction catagory. I highly recommend this book to each and every individual on this planet earth. And I kindly request, Mr. Pushkarna, to publish in many other languages to make this book accessible to people other than Gujaratis.
And for our army, I am all down, not just my Hat !
I don't know what to type next but the words above are just tip of the iceberg like feelings I am experiencing currently, after completing the book.
Mein bhi "post kaat ke aaya" , via this book..

Our national anthem played in the theater n THE SEACHIN picturisation came....
of course we cant move during the singing of the anthem...so was not able to wipe out my tears rolled out from my eyes continuously... had seen this version many time earlier but after reading (just about to finish last two chapters when we went for the movie) the book i felt like those soldiers on protecting our high altitude post are not strangers but they are my brave brothers, now I know how physically, mentally and emotionally its difficult to survive up there. i really appreciate the efforts by the author to wish for the unattainable and he achieved that. not being burden on Indian Army he saved lot many things for us and earned total n sheer respect from us(his readers).
Stok Kangiri Traek n Janskar River- Chadar trek came as total surprise to me.
the trio of "Heptars, Doctors and Pottars",
the intresting fact abt why the Green Chilly is hot fav. to our Jawans...
i really wish they all(mentioned Soldiers) have their copy of this book be it Hindi, Punjabi or English language...
Local(Ahmedabad) Connnection of Shahid Jadshish ji n the cross road named after him-this was worth the information to have n rightly shared by our sincier jounalsit.

What a book ! I must say i never have read such book till now, how simple and touching. it lighten up all the aspect that a soldier face in Siachen and how they are fighting with enemy as well as cruel weather. I salute them and we must know their hardship and respect them. Only reason they are serving their is to protect motherland form enemy.
It must read book for all of us. I salute Team Safari and Harshal Pushkarna to bring their feeling to us. i am fan of Safari from childhood and always eager to read it. But after reading this book my respect towards Safari is at new height.
Such a wonderful in Gujarati that is like icing on cake.
