This book is like nothing I've read from Gabi Moore, it takes place 60 years in the future and has a slight space exploration theme to it.

Felix has been in love with Emily since he met her during a school orientation. They quickly become best friends cause Emily doesn't hook up and Felix doesn't care what they do as long as there together until one night she finds out how deep Felix cares about her and he's just like her in the aspect of no hook ups. That night they lose there virginity to each other and become a couple until Felix gets accepted into a program that will take him to Mars which is his dream. Unfortunately he shatters Emily in the process when he breaks up with her for it.

5 years later Felix is released from his space mission due to a tragic explosion and even though everyday since he left he's thought about Emily and written letters that he never sent he knows she hates him. When he unexpectedly runs into her in a market he's ecstatic until he sees her hate for me. He vows at that moment he will do anything to get a second chance.

Emily isn't who she was 5 years ago after a horrible incident in college that still has left her broken. What she dealt with that night was hard for me to read, it was horrible!!! But unfortunately that part of the story isn't far fetched at all but, so incredibly sad. The story after that shows you the shame poor Emily dealt with until Felix shows her it wasn't her fault, never was.

Felix was so genuine and goofy and Emily was strong and very stubborn but, I liked when she finally has her ah ha moment and doesn't let the shit head Buck keep bullying her!!

A second chance romance with a little twist, mainly colonies on Mars and people getting stationed there. Emily and Felix started as friends who helped each other with studying in college, but one night they both give in to how they really feel about each other. Should be perfect, but life has other plans when Felix gets the chance he has always wanted to go to Mars. That assignment means walking away from the woman he loves, Emily. Emily gets her heart broken when Felix walks away, but life doesn't stop the hits with that one and her life spirals even more. Fast forward 5 years and Felix finds himself home and Emily wanting nothing to do with him. Felix and Emily will go through so much to get to where they deserve with each other, but in the end the struggles prove they are stronger than either thought. I loved the latest from Gabi Moore. This is a Second Chance Romance that takes place 60 years in the future. Not a sci-fi, but contains a bit of it.
Emily & Felix were friends in college, until one night they lose their V-cards to each other & began a relationship. When Felix gets the opportunity to go to Mars, he's thrilled & takes the assignment. This decision has some consequences as this ends his relationship with Emily which in turn causes her to make a wrong personal choice which destroys her reputation & self esteem. Now years later, Felix who's never forgotten Emily, returns to Earth & meets up with her again only to discover that she's very angry with him. However he's prepared to do anything to get her to forgive him.

I Found Whatever it Takes by Gabi Moore to just be so-so. This one just didn't grab me, then begged to be intimate. This whole book just seemed sort of meh.'

The story premise was good, but the characters just didn't grab me and make me pay attention. Yes, my mind did wander...

Try this book yourself. It does have some great dialogue in places...and the HEA is always a good thing. Unfortunately it didn't work for me. (I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.)

I don't usually like books with a futuristic or sci-fi theme, but this one was good. Emily and Felix have been through a lot and eventually get a second chance at love. They are good together and there's plenty of emotion on their journey.

This has an interesting storyline. There is so much conflict between Em and Felix. He seems like a nice guy, but then not really. She is a sweet girl, then completely changes. It's not an easy romance for them at all.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. This is my honest opinion of it.

Nope

This...was awful. I was mostly pulled in because I found the cover hot. Then the description didn't seem so bad. Thank goodness this book was free, because I hated it.

And my dislike has nothing to do with the sex scenes or the content. This could have been a good story, bit I hated the main characters and the way it was written.

Sorry, but I didn't like this.

So, I kinda don't know WTF it was I just read. The blurb really does nothing to even begin to convey what's going on in this book. First off, it is NA. Not really my cup of tea, but I didn't know when I DL'ed it so, OK, I'll give it a shot. It is also slightly futuristic with space exploration and Mars. Lastly, it definitely has some heavy themes that are not alluded to in the description. Now, I can deal with heavy themes, but they need to be handled well and this one...well, I just didn't care for it. Both the hero and the heroine are dealing with wounds—him on the outside and she on in the inside. I liked that the author makes current hero a physically wounded man. This is different from the perfectly ripped, body-to-die-for, huge-cock type of man we typically see in romance novels. The heroine went through a gang rape after getting drunk at a college frat party. I think the author did well with the psychology of a victim and how she second guesses herself and blames herself. We all know that is NOT THE VICTIM'S FAULT, but we all also know this is a common emotional result of being raped--the feeling that you asked for it or encouraged it. I liked how she was finally able to gain strength at the end. What I didn't really like was whoa, the asshole dude who helped instigate this gang rape is claiming to have been in love with the heroine???? WTAF? And then he is trying to maneuver himself into her life and proposition her yet again??? Why is she not freaking out more? Why is she ACTUALLY CONTEMPLATING THIS? I wanted more of a reaction from the hero. Frankly, I wanted the hero to beat his ass. I also don't think the hero ever realized that it was a gang rape while she was intoxicated. It seems like he thinks it was only this one guy who took advantage of her. I just...ugh....the writing quality is itself very good. I think I just really didn't care for how aspects of the story were handled.

Whatever It Takes
By: Gabi Moore

4.5 Star Review by Kristie K

Whatever It takes is a sinfully seductive, sensual, and delicious treat. Dark, like your favorite chocolate, slightly sweet, and just as decadent…

Emily Warren is incredibly intelligent, graduated top of her class, and had dreams of saving the world. With the world at her fingertips, and the boy she loved by her side, anything was possible. Until he left. Then everything changed. Something inside of her died the day he walked away. The rest was slaughtered one fateful night, at a frat party she never should have attended. The night her world changed, and her bright future dimmed to black…

Felix Stone was going to map the galaxy, and make history on Mars. As fun, quirky, and smart as he was adorable, he had the world at his feet and the girl of his dreams by his side. When the opportunity of a lifetime lands in his lap, Felix jumps at the chance to follow his dream. In the process, he is forced to walk away from the woman he loves. Back from his mission, he’s got a second chance, and he wants her back. His feelings haven’t changed, if anything they've grown stronger…but hers have morphed into anger, bordering on hate. Can he convince her to try again, to let him love her?

This was the first of Ms. Moore’s books that I have had the pleasure of reading. Pleasure being the operative word here. Honestly, woman….where have you been all my life? As a fan of dark romance, I was drawn to this story like the proverbial moth to flame. I was hooked from the first word, and couldn’t stop until I read the last. The characters were so easy to love, but also easy to hate in the same breath. The heartbreak and devastation they both endure was gut-wrenching. I wept with Emily when Felix left, I sobbed when the darkness swallowed her up, and I died a little inside with each degrading reminder she endured. I cried for Felix with Emily’s rejections, I balled when he saw her shattered soul, and I crumbled when he broke. I felt every moment of their love, their loss, their pain, and their retribution. The characters were incredible in their authenticity, their soul bared for the world. Felix was everything any woman would want in a man, flaws and all. Emily was every woman, broken wings included. I adored them both. The plot and storyline were unique, well planned, and executed flawlessly…so beautiful in its devastation. Ms. Moore is incredibly talented, and is poised to be a force to be reckoned with as she continues to grow and improve in her ability. I will be following her for years to come, and watching as she reaches the milestones I know she will.

Whatever It Takes by Gabi Moore is Book 8 in the Bad Boys After Dark series and a Second Chance Romance.

Felix used to be passionate about two things ... his best friend Emily and helping mankind explore and thrive in new worlds. Felix had met the beautiful and smart Emily through a summer student skills exchange program and fallen head over heels in love with her. But when Felix was offered a spot on the fast track program overseeing a military base on Mars, he jumped at the offer. Felix's job would be dangerous and he could be gone for years and it would be cruel to leave Emily hanging like that. So he did the decent thing and broke up with her.

Emily's heart broke into a million pieces after Felix ended things with her. Then Emily's father died. And that's when her life went off the rails. Feeling sad and depressed, Emily downed a bottle of pills with some vodka before going to a frat party, where she's plied with alcohol and raped while someone videotaped the whole thing. After the video was uploaded and went viral, Emily dropped out of college and took over her father's bakery, which needs a bank loan to stay afloat. The loan officer Emily gets assigned is none other than her rapist. And the jerk wants to pick up where he left off.

Five years after leaving for Mars, Felix suffers severe injuries from an explosion set up by protesters who'd snuck onto Mars. Deemed unfit for service due to his PTSD and seizures, Felix gets an honourable discharge from the military, money and a blue badge. Small compensation for losing Emily, who he's missed every second of every day. Felix bumps into Emily at Jeb's Grocer, his and Emily's go to place for snacks when they were students. Emily isn't happy to see Felix and runs out before Felix gets a chance to talk with her. Felix hasn't stopped loving Emily and resolves to do whatever it takes to get her back.

Whatever It Takes is an engrossing story that's full of heartbreak, suspense and passionate love. Felix is determined to win back Emily's heart and starts by working at her bakery and giving her a letter a day. Felix has 5 years worth of letters he wrote to Emily almost daily in the 5 years he's been away but never sent. But can Emily let go of the past hurts that she so stubbornly clings to? Gabi Moore has taken two beautiful but broken people and given them a second chance at love and quickly sucks the readers into this deeply emotional story and I was really rooting for them. I highly recommend this book.

I love reading Gabi Moore books because she always manages to write a great story with drama and romance. I always get excited for her next book because I know it's going to be good and worth the read.

This book follows the story of Felix and Emily. They become close while in college and fall in love. Then Felix chooses a mission to mars and there is no promise he will return. Their relationship ends before he leaves and - I don't want to spoil anything so I'll just say Emily goes through a rough patch and when they are reconnected she isn't anything like the girl Felix used to know. Felix has to decide how far is willing to go in order to show Emily that he still loves her.

Emily went through some crazy stuff while Felix was away and I must say I was sad at first because I think it's super cute when couples are only with each other. Nevertheless, some of my favorite types of romances include a second chance; I love hearing stories of couples that can reconnect after years apart. Both of these characters are stubborn as mules - Emily is bound and determined that she isn't good enough for Felix & Felix is sure that the two of them belong together. I enjoyed reading the lengths that Felix went through in order to prove to Emily that she wasn't what she thought of herself. She got me so irritated one minute and then the next I had a better understanding of what was going on in her head. The two of them together just make sense! The author did a great job of making the characters relatable and I recommend this to anyone - 4.5 Stars :)

I received an ARC for Whatever It Takes and voluntarily reviewed this book. It was the year 2077, no less. Felix wanted to be a space jock and leave for Mars to join a tetraformation operation. The only thing he wasn't ready to leave: Emily Warren, his college girlfriend. He did end the relationship for her own good, but it was the start of a downslide for her. She was involved in An Incident in college soon after her father died and then she left school soon after. She took over her father's bakery and has been struggling for the last few years. Then, Felix comes back from Mars, looking for a second chance with Em and just does what he thinks it will take to win her back.

This was an interesting peek into the future, with people trying to scratch out an existence on the neighboring barren red planet, and life on earth was jeopardized, but people really haven't changed that much. This one was quite different then the rest I have read from this author. Great story about newly-found-and-then-lost love, looking for "greener pastures" and pursuing your dreams off-planet, facing your mistakes, things that make you go "hmmm," and finding the right guy to get to that place with you!

Second chance stories can be predictable and often pretty boring. Whatever It Takes breathed some freshness into that storyline. Felix and Emily are interesting characters, a bit flawed, and make poor choices. I liked the science fiction aspect of the book, it moved fast, and kept you interested from start to finish. Good, solid read!!

I really liked the storyline of this book, and it was interesting because it was set in the future and there was some science and space travel elements that added a fun twist. Emily has some hang-ups from events in the past, including Felix leaving her to go to Mars. Felix is back on Earth, and he's trying to make things right with Emily, but there were things that happened while he was on Mars and he has no idea how to make things right.

rcvd an advanced reader copy for voluntarily providing a review. i wasnt too sure what to think of the futuristic theme of the story but all in all it was a good heartfelt story. we meet emily and felix...college students who fall for one another until felix's dream of working on mars becomes a reality. heartbroken emily is beside herself with felix leaving her and then her father dying. but emily is distraught for another reason...one that was made known and relentlessly teasing happened. fast forward 5 yrs...felix was injured in mars and is returning to earth. emily is running her fathers bakery and in need of funds to keepnit going. but her only option right now comes in the form of her tormentor. felix finds emily and begs to work for her just to be close to her bc he still loves her. will felix learn the truth about what happened to em? will Emily get over the past? will she let felix in?

I love that she owns a bakery and yet wants to convert it to zero emissions, etc. I love how she is so into science but yet can't give up on the bakery that was in her family.

This jumps right in and you can't put it down once you start.

You may be wondering why you should read it...because it has a little bit of everything, space, science, food, love, heartbreak, redemption, an enemy, and yet we don't get any violence, but I love that it isn't as easy as Felix saying sorry to be back with Emily. They have issues to work out and you can see the struggle there. But their love for the other never went away and I love the way Gabi shows you that throughout this entire book!

I didn't know what to expect form this book and I was pleasantly surprised. A second chance romance set in the future about a woman, Emily, and a man, Felix, who find love in college. When Felix is given the opportunity to go to Mars he accepts and leaves Emily behind but he doesn't forget about her and while in Mars he writes to her everyday and saves the letters. After Felix left Emily was devastated along with losing her dad at the same time, she makes some bad choices and ends up leaving college. Years later Felix comes home and finds Emily but she's different because of what happened in the past and Felix has no idea. When the truth comes out and a man from her past tries with Emily again, the two have to stick together to pull through and fight for their HEA.
A great second chance romance book that I thoroughly enjoyed from the first pages to the end.

I loved this book written in the future and follows Gabi's style of writing but it's a more of a sedate kind of book. Felix is this young man who's loving life and and excited about a potential chance to go to Mars. Emily is a nerd so hooked into study and is best friends with Felix. Things heat up between them and they become lovers. But life is never that simple, Felix makes his mind up to go to Mars and Emily loses her dad and her life takes a major turn for the worst.
Many years later after an incident on Mars Felix returns to Earth and bumps into Emily, saying no more about the book read it, you'll hopefully love it.

Emily and Felix were college friends turned college sweethearts. Until the day, Felix broke her heart to go to Mars. Now five years later, lucky to be alive Felix has been medically discharged and is back on Earth.

Emily has lived through Felix's heartbreak of leaving barely. After going through something, she dropped out of college and is trying to make a go of her father's bakery.

When Felix and Emily run into each other, old feelings emerge. However, can they get past old hurt and start again?

This story is set in an Earth future. It starts out heartbreaking and you cannot help hoping that Felix and Emily will find a way back to each other.

This is a steamy, out of this world, friends to lovers, second chance romance, with a deeply dark twist and a slight SiFi bent. Set 60 years in the future when people are disparate colonize mars as earth is falling apart.

Emily is a dreamer with wicked intelligence and a drive to save the earth until one crazy twist of fate brings her world to a grinding halt and speeds her on a new path. Felix is a interesting hero with the decided inability to express any emotions in any way that others can understand clearly. All his dreams come true when he gets a chance to go to Mars but it comes at a extremely high cost. The emotional ups and downs these two go through are like an exciting roller coaster ride. Highly Entertaining Read.

This was a little bit sci-fi, a little bit erotica, and a little bit romance all rolled into one book. Felix did what he he thought was in his best interest, which was completely understandable giving his life long dreams. In the end he regretted though, but he was lucky and was given a second chance, just not exactly how he imagined it would be. He is super sweet, romantic and genuine. Emily aggravated the living crap out of me. I understand she was messed up from passed events, but she really played the victim card way to much. She let the past consume her and form her rather than letting it make her stronger. She almost let it destroy her and in ways she uses Felix, but I guess that's where the title comes in. It was a decent read, but Felix is no bad boy, now Buck on the other hand is pure bad boy with no reform in sight. I volunteered to read this book.

This is the 8th book in the BAD Boys After Dark Series. It can be read as a standalone. I have not read any of the other books. This was my first book by Gabi Moore. It takes place in the future years 2077 to 2086. I was not so sure when I started this book that I would enjoy it because it was placed in the future. I was pleasantly surprised. PEmily and Felix fell in love when they were in college. Felix is chosen to become a space cowboy and leaves Emily to go to Mars. After Felix breaks Emily's heart her life spirals out of control. One drunk, drug induced night at a frat party haunts Emily. Emily is a survivor just trying to make it day to day. Felix returns home 5 years later after being injured. He has never stopped loving Emily. This is a second chance romance. It was a quick read that I was completely sucked into.

Gabi's books always have something a little crazy or different about them. Like this one is in the future and talks about Mars (no aliens lol)! Anyways I love second chance romances and this was a good one. Splitting up when they had to leave was a decision he regretted for years and led her to a situation she always regretted. When he comes back, he is determined to get her to forgive him and their connection is just as strong as the day he left. Oh and the love scenes are pretty kinky.

Felix and Emily have history but they've had a bad break up when he left for Mars. Now Felix is back and still in love with Emily, but Emily hasn't been the same since he left.

A second chance story set in the future and honestly if it wasn't for some futuristic changes you realize it could take place in the here and now. You want to root for Felix as he goes back to winning Emily's heart.

Great job

Whatever it takes

Moore has done it again, this time combining a second chance love story with a bad boy romance and ending up with one hot read!
And our bad boy---Felix, he can command me anytime.
This was an honest journey of two souls: into the darkness and back into the light.
Greatly enjoyed the futuristic setting and "topics ", a real nice twist.
