DNF @ 66%. Too much telling of the MCs' emotions. Lame and awkward relationship development.

I would say I liked it.

One of the things that stand out to me is a little byplay between Jackson and Matt. Actually two. Second one first. When they finally get ready to throw down, Jackson says I'll go get the condom. Then shortly after that, there's the no need for condoms between shifters since they can't catch anything. Well, then why mention a condom to begin with. Oh, but Matt is am OMEGA that can get pregnant... so of course if they don't want pups right away a condom would be a good thing. I just feel like there are a few discrepancies throughout. This particular one is over a condom.

The first one is over the word mate. Maybe I was taking it wrong.. But when Jackson and Matt arrive at the shelter and meet up with Van, Jackson asks what he would do if his mate was in danger. Matt is standing RIGHT there but that question didn't seem a little strange to him? Also, it's mentioned a few times that mating is a one time deal. And yet, in this same moment it is also said that Van had yet to find his SECOND mate. That means that mating is NOT a one time deal.

So this has at least a few inconsistencies.

To be honest, I did have a difficult time reading about the abuse that Matt was going through with Hobert, the Alpha's son that he was supposed to mate. The happily ever after was beautiful though, and I did enjoy the story once Jackson saved him from Hobert. They were sweet together and the ending was excellent. =)

Runaway Mate

Okay I admit it I am a sucker for Omega Rescue stories. I hate reading about how abused they are initially. I cringe each time one is hit or kicked or even screamed at for doing something usually just perceived wrong. I get so angry at the shifter culture that on one hand claim that Omegas are valuable commodities, but then treat them like sh**.

The ones that are sexually assaulted and forced to bear pups for an Alpha chosen by their parents or who brought them, make me want to scream. Then why do I read them? I want to see the Omegas get the Happily Ever After they deserve. I want to see the bad Alphas get their much deserved punishment and the Omegas the justice / retribution (retaliation) due them for all they endured and suffered.

As I stated before, I didn't know this was an Omega Rescue story. I was very excited to learn as the story unfolded that it was one of my favorite types of stories to read. Owning over 7500+ Kindle Books buying at least one or more daily, I forget what the book synopsis stated. I felt like reading a shorter series without as many pages as the one I just read. I've enjoyed Fel Fern books in the past so I turned to her. I foolishly started reading it at bedtime, but justified it by saying, Well there a thunder and lightning storm outside so I couldn't sleep anyway.

Despite the lazy mean Alpha's son Hobert and male Omega Matt's plight, I immediately got into the story & plotted how the Omega might get out of his horrible betrothal. Even if no one else would offer him assistance, I was rooting for Matt. Silently screaming "RUN! " when the chance arose.

Non-pack member very large Wolf shifter Jackson was the perfect new mate for mate. His size, strength, gentleness, and genuine immediate affection for Matt was just what Matt needed after being exhausted while running to escape his already abusive mate to be.

Yet after experiencing the sweet kindness of Jackson, Matt felt he had to make a huge sacrifice for both Jackson & the Howl4Alphas sanctuary. Little did he know after awakening his true Alpha Wolf's demoralized heart - Matt had been charged with permanently keeping it happily beating.
