A Sure Foundation: Rediscovering the Basic Message of the New Testament

Rate this book
Have you ever wondered what the message of each New Testament book really is? Not just the meaning of a phrase, a text, or even a chapter, but the central message of the entire book? If so, this is the book for you. A Sure Foundation lets you get a grasp of the heart New Testament's teaching and shows you how relevant it is to your life in the modern world. It tells you how to live in the light of the gospel, in the freedom of faith and not in the gloom of guilt and frustration. This is not another "how to" book of self-help tips. Its constant theme is the acceptance believers have with God because of the imputation of all Christ's righteousness to them. This is the heart of the gospel, a truth so important that Martin Luther said a church will either stand or fall according to whether or not it faithfully teaches it. It is equally important for individuals. A Sure foundation leads you to rediscover the truth and build your whole life upon it.

A wonderful introduction to the New Testament, and an excellent book for any new Christian to read and own. Cairns does a fair job of explaining positions held by credible Christian commentators with whom he does not agree. An edifying read.
