Pipeline Rules of Thumb Hand Book
This CD-ROM is an interactive version of the popular book, Pipe Line Rules of Thumb Handbook, fourth edition by Mcallister. The CD provides quick access to over 400 text articles and performs over 200 calculations. Articles are selected via over 2000 keywords or the table of contents. Text and equations are displayed simultaneously on the screen. Also included are two data sets, one listing over 60 hydrocarbons and their physical properties, and the other listing common pipe specifications.
No one working in pipelines today should be without this invaluable tool. For example, in the section called "Pipe Laying" alone, there are automatic formulas for how to determine the degrees of bend in a pipe that must fit a ditch, how to calculate maximum bend on cold pipe, how to determine length of pipe bend, and how to calculate allowable pipe span between supports. Each chapter and subhead has these equations and formulas built into the text, so that with the click of a mouse, the user can get to a "mini-program," to plug in their numbers and get the formula they need for that particular job.
