Pharmaceutical microbiology deals with the interaction between drugs and microorganisms. This book, the fifth edition of an established textbook, falls into three distinct parts. The first is a concise account of the anatomy and physiology of bacteria, viruses, yeast and fungi. The second and third parts examine, respectively, the action of pharmaceutical agents such as antibiotics on microbes and the action of microbes on pharmaceutical products. The latter section includes coverage of factory and hospital hygiene and microbial spoilage of pharmaceutical products during manufacturing.
