Presenting a broad examination of the issues surrounding family ties and aging, this advances textbook provides an integrated and thorough representation of current research in the field. Whereas book on families and aging have traditionally focused on ties to a spouse and to children and grandchildren, Connidis′s coverage is more extensive and more reflective of contemporary society.
Good grief. As a public health major, I have to read all manner of books I'd rather not. But this? This was terrible. Just statistic after statistic, paragraph after paragraph. I'd rather poke my eyes out with a spoon than have to reread this book cover to cover. If they had spent even a little time trying to frame the info in an interesting way, this book would have a much better rating.
That being said, I have to admit there is a lot of good info buried deep within snore fest quality paragraphs. I will likely keep this one, despite its rating because highly specific aging stats can be hard to come by.
