Childrens early reader. Great story! Mike and Sally are upset when their classmates ridicule them for wearing glasses. But when their favorite cowboy hero comes to town and performs tricks with specs on, they are thoroughly heartened. Hero worship when directed toward a positive goal can be a virtually instructive tool. In this case the other children re-evaluate their feelings about a common "handicap", but more important, the stigma attached to wearing glasses is thoroughly eradicated in the minds of Mike and Sally.
