A sprawling collection of interviews with iconic Canadians from all walks of life. An excellent slice of Canadian culture that exudes charm with Cody Groat mixing in personal anecdotes and his complicated feelings about his work as he angled for (and scored) high-profile interviews and phone calls as a novice journalist.
A lot of the questions Groat asks tie into legacy, regret, personal feelings, and advice to younger people. Not standard interview questions, and it opens up a new dimension of several famous Canadians who have been interviewed endlessly across their lengthily careers.
Groat’s freshness on the interviewing scene means there are some unusual and unexpected moments throughout, and this is an essential read for anyone looking to grasp that quintessential something, hard to explain but certainly palpable, that gives Canada its artistic and cultural uniqueness.
Loved this conversation with so many, various Canadians that I didn't want it to end so I went to the blog and thought immediately why weren't they in the book!!!!! I get it. But Stuart McLean? Oh Cody, write another Canadian Stories book, or, ask Strombo if you could sequel his show and live interview on the CBC. And then, when you are ready, follow your dream in to politics.
