The description in the catalog of the National Library service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped made this sound like a heartwarming holiday read. It says:
" struggling young artist, who lives in a condemned tenement with his pregnant girlfriend, involves the community in a big Christmas party for the children at an orphanage."
I wish I could tell you why this didn't hold my attention at all. That I can't quite put my finger on it renders this review pretty much useless. My mind kept wandering as I read and, while there were certain scenes that caught my attention, I really could not focus on the story.
This is such a short book that you may want to give it a try just to see if your mileage differs.
A sweet and often comical story about an artist poor in money but rich in heart who befriends a pastor struggling with connecting to his dwindling congregation. Dated now (set in the '70s), it still warms the heart.
