Even accepting that constitutional law has continued to develop since this book was published (for example, Love v Commonwealth of Australia; Thoms v Commonwealth of Australia [2020] HCA 3, Comcare v Banerji [2019] HCA 23 and more broadly Smethurst v Commissioner of Police [2020] HCA 14) and the corresponding need to ensure that the law is current when applying or analysing it, this work remains a work useful for both students and practitioners alike. Topics are clearly set out and explained, underlying principles examined, and there is a fair balance between sufficient depth and summarising the material.
