Becky and Mack have always hated each other, and their animosity isn't diminished any when they are thrown together on a college newspaper project to interview an elderly film actor. At the height of his fame, Paul Wolfstead was known as The King of Horror famous for starring in blood thirsty schlock horror movies, until he was sent to prison for killing someone during a party in the nineteen fifties. Descending into a life of poverty, but still living in the decaying splendour of Windchimes where the murder took place, he welcomes the chance to put the record straight, even if it only for a story in a local college newspaper. But when Becky and Mack go to Windchimes, they find themselves catapulted into an adventure that is straight out of one of Paul Wolfstead's old movies - travelling back in time to when the murder took place, enabling them to solve the mystery - that's if they can get over their differences with each other first!
With quirky movie references and vintage thrills and spills straight out of the golden age of the cinema, REEL TIME is a YA mystery romance that will leave you breathless for more - just like an old Technicolor movie on a rainy Sunday afternoon.

A time travelling adventure with two mortal enemies since childhood, Mack and Becky. They are part of their school paper and Becky’s assignment is to interview a suspect in a murder case that took long ago, even before her birth. Together with Mack they embark in an adventure that would change their lives.
A horror movie superstar, Paul is living a lonely and depressing life after the murder incident that remains a mystery. He claims that he is innocent, but does he really is?
The story unravels as the duo travels back in time in attempt to fix Paul’s life and unknowingly solving the mystery any detective in that time failed to uncover.
The plot seems interesting at first, but it didn’t give me the push to devour it. It took me long to finish it. It just failed to hold and continuously pique my curiosity, not until when everything is starting to clear up. Sarah did great in keeping the real culprit hidden until it’s time to reveal. Turns out my guesses are all wrong! Ha-ha. You got me there.
Another thing, I did have difficulty in reading those texts. It’s kind of confusing. Maybe a little enhancement there. It’s good that some of the mechanics of time traveling is explained at the end. About their memories and all.
PS: This book made me want to pick some Agatha Christie book. Hehe

Thank you Sarah Parry for the opportunity to read your book. This was an enjoyable read. The story was great. Also, the characters were very likable. I thought Mack was overconfident at times, but he was a unique character. I liked Becky right away, and she was a very good heroine to the story. This is one of those books that had a great blend of mystery, time travel, and sci-fi. The ending was great. I thought the book was really interesting and likable. The time travel was great and it reminded me of Ruby Red. I thought the relationship between Mack and Becky was great. Overall, a great read.
So so well written! I was hooked from page 1. I was updating my progress on goodreads so you'd know how I felt about this book. So amazing!
I enjoyed how the characters and their relationships developed over time, and I also loved how their chemistry picked up. Though I must say, their chemistry was apparent from the very beginning, which I do tend to have a soft spot for.
The supporting characters also had great personality and were well structured. The relationships between the rich and famous ensemble in the 'past' were just amazingly intertwined. I don't want to give away any spoilers so I won't say any more.
It is a fast paced book, and it keeps you hooked for what comes next. I absolutely adore such books and I do recommend this wholeheartedly to anyone who is a fan of mystery, teen romance, exciting fast paced novels, or any combination of the above. What I appreciated was that there was not much graphic violence although there were a couple of times they storyline came pretty close.
Overall, I highly recommend this book. A quick enjoyable read with well fleshed out lead characters.
What I liked: - fast paced story - likeable characters (leads as well as the support ensemble) - you're hooked and you just have to know what's next
What I didn't like: - the very last time, I would have liked a little more explanation regarding memories, but again, no spoilers so shan't disclose
I received a copy of this for an honest review. I absolutely loved this book. It was amazing and the writing was just perfect. It starts off with Becky and Mack disliking each other from when they first met. They end up getting together for an article project on Paul Wolfstead who was charged in killing Duncan. Becky and Mack have to go back in time to figure out who actually killed Duncan. Duncan isn't the best man as you figure out during the book and the mystery behind his death puts all the pieces together. This book comes with twists and pieces adding together. To feel the full effect on this book you just have to read this book!
Reel Time by Sarah Parry was a Real (lol) great read! Although this book is tagged as YA, it's much more than that. A mystery with more twists and turns than a Missouri mile! An absolutely fun read, with mystery, time travel, and so much more. This is my 1st experience with Sarah Parry and I have to say, based on this book alone, I can't imagine anything else she has written, or will write, won't be just as enjoyable to read. I was sent this book at no cost for an honest review, and I can honestly say, the book is worth paying for!
I received this book from the author for an honest review of the book.
As soon as I read the description of this book, I was so excited to read it. YA, horror films, time travel?? Heck yeah!! Sounds right up my alley!
I loved the relationships between Becky, Mack and Paul. Their relationships all evolved over the story and it was all believable and well thought out and developed in the story. I liked the plot of the story more than I expected. It wasn't scary (I thought it might be because of the horror movies). I loved the mystery and the way the story progressed. I think I made certain assumptions about this book prior to reading and it was a nice surprise to not have it proceed the way I thought it would. I really enjoyed this book. I will definitely look for more books by this author!
If you could write a letter to yourself in the past that would significantly change the future for the better, would you? What would you say? How would you get it to your other self? I enjoyed this book and the time travel involved – even the real time antics!!!
