Published in 1987, 'Messerschmitt Bf 109 - Into the Battle' set out to give details of the operational history, colours and markings of early Me 109 aircraft with the Luftwaffe in the period up to around the end of 1940. The text is informative, and is supported by 75 well chosen photos with geed captioning, as well as numerous drawing illustrating colour schemes, placement of markings, and the markings them selves together with three pages of aircraft profile artworks. Two artwork paintings of Me 109s in action on the cover and on page 2 make disappointing company with contents of this quality, as they are not very good.
