There are so many of these types of books out there, and it almost seems wrong to rate them and count them as real books -- after all, these are not the books that children will remember as truly having an effect on them. They're incredibly simple and have absolutely no heart. They're not supposed to. Yet they're important because having a visual aid and skilled descriptions (written for the proper age group) goes a long way in teaching young children new things.

I do have a qualm with this book though -- it says the city buildings are rectangles. They are not. They are three-dimensional shapes and therefore rectangle prisms. At least, that's what I learned at my old Montessori school. The sides of them are rectangles, however! That is a small change I will make. Also, the ending of, "It's fun to find rectangles," or whatever is a bit much. Let's let the children decide if they're having fun, eh? Oh, and though there are very few representations of people in the book, every single one appears to be white, which is unfortunate, but people appear minimally enough that it's not a huge deal.
