I picked this book up because I wanted to see how she presents YIN yoga (my area of training and teaching), and I was actually quite positively taken with her perspective and presentation of it. That said, I don't recommend this book as I really believe it promotes breadth rather than depth which is antithetical to my lived wisdom. I can't speak to how well she presents Qi Gong, or Pilates, or Tibetan Rites as I have no lived experience with them. I find her teachings on meditation to be extremely superficial. I am exhausted by "celebrity" trauma stories. And a final nagging thought... somewhere in the book, perhaps the chapter on the Tibetan Rites (?) she comments on the Taoist adepts who earned the right to learn them from their masters through self-discipline and diligence. In that comment I find a nod to tradition and the traditional forms of transmission of wisdom, that practice yields rewards. Yet I find it disturbing that the author feels she can or should disseminate what was once hard earned wisdom simply through the ability to pay for it, whether that is her own ability to pay for high-end workshops and trainings, or a reader's ability to pay to purchase her book. It contributes to the commodification of the Wisdom practices and as such can not support her in that.

I've been a fan of Jennifer Kries' mind-body teachings for almost two decades. I was over the moon when I realized that she, like me, had segued from yoga and Pilates to qigong and kundalini yoga. It's not just that her instructions are clear and easy to follow; her insights into the ways and whys of these methods, illuminated by descriptions of her own experiences, are what makes this guide a treasure for anyone interested in exploring these ancient modalities.

Nice summary with step by step instructions on different mind-body practices along with an understanding of why / how these might work.
Allows a perceptive reader to see how these interconnect. Enjoyed the book.

Jennifer introduces the reader to the modalities that have changed her life: Qigong, Kundalini, Tibetan Rites, Pilates, Yin Yoga, Cosmic Healing Sounds, and Meditation. Illustrations (or an accompanying DVD) would have been helpful, but since I got this as an electronic ARC from Edelweiss, it’s possible that these may indeed be included in the book when published.
