Come With Me Devotional: A Yearlong Adventure in Following Jesus

Rate this book
Bestselling Proverbs 31 Author Invites Women to Daily Walk Where Jesus Leads

C ome With Me Devotional asks you to imagine that Jesus walks up to you and invites you to follow him. He doesn't tell you what it will entail, only asks you to come . When the original disciples said yes, they had no idea what that meant. But Jesus was there to walk alongside them. You too can discover the beauty of following where he leads, and feel him walking with you, when you join Suzanne Eller on this yearlong adventure through Luke. You will follow Jesus, learn how he interacts with people, and see his influence upon those he meets along the way.

This timeless devotional is for every woman whose desire is to know Christ better and to be changed by that relationship.

Currently I am leading both a live and an online study of Suzie’s book, Come With Me. Her devotional is a perfect supplement for the original paperback book about following Jesus.

The Come With Me Devotional has 260 brief, beautiful devotions about following Jesus more closely. You could read one day at a time, or read a few at a time, which is my preference. The entire book is based on the gospel of Luke. It will take you into a deep, rewarding study of those scriptures, one verse at a time.

Suzie is skilled at sharing new scriptural insight along with powerful personal application. That’s why I am a fan of her blog and of her other books, like The Mended Heart: God’s Healing for Your Broken Places. I learn something new about Jesus and myself every time I read Suzie’s writing.

Here’s an excerpt of one devotional (142 in the book):

"Jesus calls us to live a salty life, not one that blends in. May we live so salty that it pours generously over our home and those who abide within its walls. May it bring savor and restorative properties to our relationships."

How this book is changing me:

- I’m seeing a familiar gospel in brand-new ways.
- I am learning that Jesus loves me more than I ever really understood.
- I’m focusing on praying just to Jesus more frequently, to deepen our relationship.

I received a free, autographed copy of Come With Me Devotional as a participant of the Come With Me Retreat–thank you Suzie! This book will bless you just as much as it is blessing me!

This is my review of the Come With Me Devotional by Proverbs 31 Ministries speaker and best-selling author Suzanne Eller. Pressed between the delicate cream-colored pages of this Devotional is a daring invitation — a chance to journey alongside Jesus like never before, to examine His footsteps with a fresh and personal perspective. Suzanne Eller walks readers through the book of Luke, on a discovery of “what-if.” What if you dared to believe you are chosen and loved? What if you boldly approached life with an eternal perspective? What if Jesus looked at you and said, “Come with Me”? Each day of this yearlong Devotional is a beautiful reminder that we are not meant to be mere readers of the Word, but participators in it and disciples of it. I am blessed to know Suzanne Eller and have a small glimpse into her day-to-day life. She doesn’t just write books, she lives them out. Book launches are extremely important to authors and publishers. Most authors spend a tremendous amount of time and other resources to advertise the release of their book. But Suzanne Eller (with the full support and praise of Bethany House Publishers) decided to do something different for the launch of this Come With Me Devotional. She lived out the message! For every pre-release purchase, she matched it with her own purchase of the devotional and then placed the book in the hands of women who need it most: women in prisons, safe houses, crisis centers, refugee camps, and third-world nations. That is the invitation God placed on her heart, and no matter the cost she is saying “Yes, Lord!” What is your invitation? I pray you will pick up this devotional to find out. It’s a 365-day adventure that just might change eternity for you or someone else.

If you want to follow Jesus more closely, this is an ideal devotional for you. My friend Suzanne Eller writes with warmth, depth, and fresh insight into the book of Luke. The book has 260 devotional readings featuring a verse or two about Jesus’ life and ministry. In a few short paragraphs, Suzie shares wisdom and insight, gently encouraging and reshaping my outlook. Here’s an excerpt I enjoyed from Day 11, Waiting, on Luke 5:3.

Waiting is not an idle part of our walk with Jesus. For some of us, it’s a time of rest. For others, he’s asking that we pause long enough to clearly hear his instructions…Waiting is never wasted, and it just might be where God’s greatest work takes place in us.
Each day features several references to “push out deeper” if you want to learn more. One detail I enjoy on each page is the “Come With Me” box. It’s just one or two sentences, written as if Jesus is speaking to me. The Come With Me message is a personal invitation to engage, and I sense Jesus calling me through this book.

If you’ve read Suzie’s book Come With Me: Discovering the Beauty of Following Where He Leads, this devotional is a perfect companion. Both books would make a great gift set for someone special.

This devotional is one of the most beautiful I've ever owned. Not only is the cover adorned with embossed outline, but the words are simple and anointed. It's walking with Jesus, period. It's as though the reader is the 13th disciple, and is walking among the others, watching all of these biblical encounters unfold. It takes the reader on an adventure, but one of a more simple, uncomplicated faith. It strips away all of the fuss and just sheds light on Jesus, inviting the reader to simply BE with Him. Suzanne Eller's perspective is purely beautiful, engaging, and is for everyone. This devotional can be started at any time, on any day. There are scripture references which allow the reader to dig deeper into the Word with each day. It was impossible for me to stop at reading one page, as it drew me in and captured me like no other devotional ever has. Hands down, INCREDIBLE. A must have for every woman!

I loved Suzie’s book, Come With Me, so I was very excited to continue the journey daily through the book of Luke with the Come With Me Devotional. Each day I am reminded to focus on His voice and to follow where He leads. With a verse and a short devotional, my heart is tuned in to seeking Him throughout my day. There are also additional verses for going deeper. My favorite part is the daily Come With Me reminder which is like a short, sweet whisper to my heart from Jesus. This devotional is a perfect gift to give anytime, as you can start it on any day…and you will be so glad you did!

Come accept Jesus' invitation to walk with Him, no matter where He leads. Trust in His plan and follow. This is an incredible journey through the book of Luke. Suzie understands our busy schedules and has provided short, yet deep, devotionals to inspire us in our walk of faith. I LOVE everything she writes! Don't miss out on God's invitation to "Come With Me". Your life will be forever changed!
P.S. There's also a "Come With Me" book the preceded the devo that you will love too!

I so enjoyed using this devotional this past year. Through the 260 short devotions included, author Suzanne Eller walks readers through the book of Luke and leads us in focusing on Jesus and how he can impact our lives daily. So much wonderful insight shared, including the "Come With Me" feature in each devotion - a sentence or two of wise words written as if Jesus spoke them. What an excellent spiritual growth resource and way to start the day. Highly recommend.

I love Suzanne Eller's work so it's not surprising how wonderful this devotional is! Her writing style is warm and relatable. She has the ability to share deep spiritual truth in a straight-forward applicable way. Life-changing! The entries are just the right length and provide a daily insight or question to take away. I've already gifted several copies of this book to my friends and plan to make this my 'go-to' gift for all the people I love. Don't miss this special book! It is a must read!
