Days away from playing in a major PGA tournament, lawyer turned golf pro Kieran Lenahan's country club pro shop is burnt down, and his famed caddie is murdered. It only goes down hill from there... As Publisher's weekly says, "Even non-golfers will delight in Lenahan's love of the game and the fairway world." What reviewers say about Conor Daly and his Kieran Lenahan "A FAST-PACED MYSTERY" —THE NEW YORK TIMES "DALY SCORES A BIRDIE" —PUBLISHER'S WEEKLY Conor Daly is the pen name of a practicing attorney.
Conor Daly is the pseudonym used by Goodreads author Kevin Egan for a three-book golf mystery series that appeared several years ago. The series featured Kieran Lenahan, a golf pro whose former life as an attorney bedevils his attempts to compete on the PGA Tour. The series comprised Local Knowledge, Buried Lies, and Outside Agency. Although each title is a well-known golf term, the stories did not require any golf knowledge on the part of the reader. In 1996, with many golf novels appearing in bookstores, the Booklist review of Buried Lies stated: “Good golf scenes and a believable mystery make this second Kieran Lenahan novel the best golfing mystery on the market.”
The actual books in the series are only available only on the secondary market. However, e-book versions are available from ReAnimus Press.
For lawyer-turned-golf-pro Kieran Lenahan, the PGA championship at the prestigious Winged Foot Golf Course is a lifelong dream come true. Until a sudden fire destroy's Kieran's Westchester Country pro shop, and a local fireman is killed in the blaze. The authorities are calling it arson. But when Kieran's caddie falls in front of an oncoming commuter train, Kieran's calling it murder.
Somewhere along the manicured fairways and saltwater inlets of the most exclusive country club on the East Coast, lies the shocking truth about the bad side of the good life. But to prove his pro status on - and off - the green, Kieran has to be better than good and more than lucky. He's got to stay alive...
Hmm! I had to suspend disbelief a bit to read this. The story's a bit far-fetched but I quite liked Kieran. The case against him very weak so his arrest seemed silly. Enjoyable.
