Our Junior Book Club (11-14) read this one along with an abridged version of Twelfth Night so they could see the parallels and the changes. We had a really good conversation about the twists that were used in this quite short book, but many were disappointed that the romance in the end didn't go further to a more definite conclusion. We enjoyed the switching of genders and sexuality.
This was enjoyable. It didn’t possess any world building, the scene of the circus was never fully described either. The characters though were interesting. Kitty disguises herself as a boy after she believes her father doesn’t want her around. She meets Fred, Jack and Sara at the circus. Her and Fred become really good friends but she becomes entangled in a love triangle with Sara and Jack. I enjoyed the plot, it was simple and enjoyable.
