Here is Jess's life: She is 16 years old. She's on the netball team. Her best friends are Sara and Charlotte. She has cancer. Last week she kissed a boy called Dylan. Today her hair is going down the plughole. If Dylan finds out he will probably drop her - or worse, feel sorry for her. Can she keep it a secret?
The most influential piece of literature of the 21th century. I cried at least 13 times and now my nose hurts. It changed my understanding of the human condition. Must read.
This book is a quick and nice read. Many books that talk about cancer and people that have this awful disease can be really depressing because of the topic. I found this book really special because it actually focused on opportunities in life and things we just can't overlook. The main character in this book is named Jess. I felt really bad for her because she was young and struggling every day with her therapies and similar stuff. But she wasn't the only one. The disease changed her family's life and also her friends were helping her. I would give this book 5 stars, but I just couldn't relate to Jess or any of her friends. Some of their actions were a little pointless, but in the end it was a good book.
This is Jess's life so far: She is 16 years old. She is sixteen years old. She's a good student. She's on a netball team. Her best friends are Sara and Charlotte. She has cancer. Last week she found herself thinking she was in love with Dylan. Today her hair is going down the plughole. If Dylan finds out he'll probably drop her - or worse, feel sorry for her. Can she keep it a secret?
I thought this book was a good story about illness and bravery. I like stories about illness, anorexia, cancer, depression, and I thought this one was good. It wasn't my favourite because I didn't feel a connection with the character, or a lot of depth in the book, but I still loved reading it!
Keep Your Hair On is a quirky and captivating novel. Jess is stuck with the dilemma of choosing weather to tell her crush, Dylan, the boy she recently kissed weather or not she has cancer. She is also wondering, what it would be like if she died? How would her funeral be? How many people would come? Then as Jess gets to know Dylan, she realises maybe that she should just live in the moment, and see what the future brings.
I feel like this is only half a book. I liked the characters and there were some good plot points but it felt like things were mentioned and forgotten or otherwise skated over. Examples: how Jess discovered she had cancer, the stuff with Charlotte, Jess's brother Spud and Dylan's family
I loved this story. It had great suspense at the end of each chapter, which made me want to keep reading. It also provided great insight into someone going through cancer treatment.
