This book has 100 stories and some of them are The fox and the grapes, The hare and the tortoise, The bull and the goat, The fox without a tail and many more. Each story has a different moral. My favorite story in the book was The fox and the sick lion. It is about an old lion who was sick and all the animals went to see him, but when the fox went to see him he only saw footprints going in but not coming out. The fox said to the lion” I would be happy to do so, but something has been bothering me. You see, there are many tracks leading into your cave but none coming out, so until I see some of your visitors coming out of your den, I would rather out here in the open air, thank you very much!”

Moral: Wise people learn from the misfortune of others.

I LOVE this book. I am impressed with the quality of the publication as well as the fabulous artwork.

Though my children are in their teens I love allegories and parables. I bought this book because I wanted to study the original fables osnd stories our culture was founded on. This book is great and I am loving each drawing associated with each fable.

Currently I am not quite halfway through this book. So far, my favorites are, "The Kite, the Frog and the Mouse," and "The Lion and the Horse"

Bought for my newborn baby, we read 3 fables every day and he seems to enjoy it. I love how each story has an illustration that I can talk him through. Just wished the green cover wasn't so intense.

It was sad going through and seeing stories with morals our corporate and political leaders apparently never learned. But there are also some morals that didn't age well.
