Mr. Brandon's School Bus: What I Heard on the Way to School

Rate this book
A delightful new book from Tom Brandon, "2013 Steve Harvey Bus Driver of the Year," reminds us of the wisdom of children and their uncanny ability to teach adults a thing or two. Mr. Brandon's School Bus, published by NewSouth Books, collects in one volume the insightful and often humorous conversations children have had while riding on Brandon's big yellow school bus over the years. You know the things your child hears at home that you don't want repeated elsewhere? Tom Brandon says you can count on them to be told with gusto on the way to school. So climb on board and, as "Mr. Mucus" would say, "Sit back and enjoy the ride." Hey, there are some things you just can't make up.

This was and easy and delightful read that I picked up in between other books this month.

It’s so much fun and you will cry tears some of the stories are so funny. With characters like hot pickle boy and the twins that aren’t twins, you will easily cheer for this kind hearted bus driver and his daily adventure. I highly recommend it and have even bought two copies for end of year gifts for our family’s own bus drivers.

Because I live near this school, and I met the author in person I had to pick up this book. The school he drives his bus route for is the 1st school I ever subbed at. It was a quick and fun read. I have lived in Alabama for about 18 years now. Longer than any other place, so this has come to be my home whether I like it or not lol! His stories of the kids were so amusing. Since I sub I can see kids doing or saying everything as he has described. My favorite story in the book mentions the "Liars Table". I never knew what that was until my husband told me. But, the meaning in that story was a good one to take to heart. I definitely recommend this book, especially if you want a good laugh! I hope he puts out another one soon. If not, I hope he continues to write, his way with words grabbed me in.

It was fine. Nothing laugh out loud, but he's obviously a good guy and it's a pleasant book for old people.
