The December edition front cover features one of the dominant male lions of several prides that roam free at Lalibela Private Game Reserve in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa. This issue explores the factors that affect game carrying capacity to establish why some game reserves provide more Big Five sightings than others (page 16). On the topic of conservation, we also look at the unfortunate consequences of wire snare poaching in game reserves (page 18).
