Mankind is going to Mars! But they're not going to make it! Michael Edwards has the honour of being Captain of the newest and best ship ever to have been The Interstellar. He and his crew will be the very first people to set foot on Mars. But along the way, an anomaly in space pulls them twenty seven light years away from home, into a different solar system, where they discover not one, but two alien species. The aliens are angry, and want the humans dead. Michael and his crew soon learn why, and now they have to find a way to get home before the Earth is destroyed. They are lost in space, with a dangerous enemy after them. Outgunned. Outnumbered. The odds are stacked against them. But they must succeed. The survival of the whole human race rests on their shoulders!
I loved it! It's a good space opera/colonization/ space exploration/alien invasion story.
It's a complete book and the story ends satisfactorily but I can tell it's probably supposed to be first in a series. With all the action going on we really just get acquainted with the main characters and the worlds. I think a second book will expand the world building.
It's not as grand as some of the space epics out these days but it definitely holds its own and has a lot of unique ideas. I especially loved that there were 2 separate alien species in the same system with their own conflicts!
