Finn loves spiders. He thought he loved all spiders. But that was before his hair-raising adventure with the scariest spiders you have ever seen. They have enormous claws and sharp fangs and they jump out at you from a dark pl--Aargh! Look out!
This is a very good children's book. It seems like it'll just be horror all the way through, but it has really unique characters and lots of facts about spiders and history about life in the late 1800s.
I don't remember reading this one when I was a younger reader but decided to give it a go. Considering the title the vampire spiders fail to appear until the last quarter of the book so it feels a bit drawn out. The plot concentrates on the old girl's school that used to sit where their new house is and the ghost of the past headmistress; which is still a funny tale with some poignant moments - but not what is expected 🤔
My family stumbled upon this book as it was just causally picked up and checked out of the library simply because the title intrigued my three young sons. We hopped in the van and immediately turned it on. Wow! We loved it right away! It was funny, engaging, and had interesting facts. We got home and wanted to keep listening. We stayed glued to the CD player all that night and cuddled under our blankets as we hopes that the plot would resolve in a "happily ever after". My sons were scared and had to sleep in my room that night, but we have loved little inside jokes from the book for the last year or so.
