What a Woman Needs

Rate this book
I wrote this book because I needed to. . . . I had forgotten about life in the process of living. . . . What we really need in life is simple . . . and, most of it, we already have. This book reminded me of how full my life really is." --Sandy Gingras

For the world's three billion-plus women, an illustrated list of what really matters most.

Less gravity, good lighting, words of affection, to escape from her own head, romantic comedies, an off switch--these are among the charming and unique entries Sandy Gingras lists as necessities for the female existence. Chocolate and an elastic waistband are obviously included.

Gingras's relaxed watercolor images meld with her compelling, poetry-like verse to help strip away life's day-to-day complications and strife. This is a book you will buy both to keep and to give as a gift.

I found this book in clearance and that's why I bought it. I don't think I would have paid full price for it, but I'm glad to have it now.

I will surely pick this book up again when I'm feeling down or unsure, and it will probably help me get myself together.

I like the idea, but it felt a bit like a grocery list after a few pages, and it seemed to me that not the same amount of attention for the drawing was put in each page. Some of the pages were gorgeous! But some pages... well, to be honest, some drawings felt a bit botched..., like the author started this for herself, but after a while, decided to created a book with it. Like if she felt the need to produce more and more items to the list to justify it being sold...

That being said, I liked it, and I will probably pick it up again sometimes. I'm sure the creating this book has been very therapeutic for the author, and it inspired me to do the same thing. Creating my own list with my own paintings will surely help me meditate on them and remember them longer. So, yes. I guess I liked it a lot for inspiring me!
