Well this one's was certainly off the charts. As the title suggests, it's about incest, in fact more than one incestuous relationship. That being said, if INCEST is a trigger for you that this is NOT the book to read!!! It also ends up covering polyamory to the nth degree with several incestuous relationships all merging at one point or another. I mean you've got daddy & daughter, brother and sister, mom and aunt with eventual other daughter thrown in and one non incestuous relationship of out of the bunch. (but I'm not judging, I rarely ever do).
As you might've guessed this is not a thought provoking read or a character study. No, this my friends falls completely under 'smut' category all the way. But for what it is, it was a good try.
3 stars -but only because I found Mandy and Paula both annoying as hell!
First, I got this at Smashwords because Amazon will not carry it due to the overarching theme of consensual incest. This is not the usual weak "step-daughter who sees him as a father," but the real thing. So, if this is an issue for you, skip my review, skip this book, just move on....
I loved this book. The reasons are so vast that this review is being written over two days so I can be fair and cover the reasons well.
First, let's answer the elephant in the room. Incest is taboo, one of the last ones we have in our culture. The author handles the consent issue with a deft hand, though it leads to my one issue, which I will address later. Every party in the story states real and informed consent, so no "rape" or "taking advantage" occurs.
Second, and this is just one of "those things," the characters are developed enough to be plausible but with enough vagueness to allow the reader to enter the experience. Any reader of my reviews already knows good character development automatically gets star boosts.
Third, the author avoids one of my MAJOR issues with all erotica: vocabulary. He varies his language, he gives the characters distinct patterns, and he does not use the same terms for sex and sexual activity repeatedly.
Fourth, and this is a matter of taste, the ever-expanding sexual circle does become a little overwhelming, and the variations do stretch the reader's credulity. That being said, because the characters stand on their own, it never gets too far afield.
Lastly, my one...and on!y one issue to which I alluded above. Every party consents, and the mutual incest is very loving. But the author approached "dead horse beating" level with the frequent reference to Suzy being on birth control. I do not say this necessarily as a hard negative but it becomes a distraction as well as perpetuating the very reason so many booksellers avoid this last taboo. Before I rant about this (ask me in messaging if you want my explanation), allow me to close with:
A good premise, but not executed well. There was too much extraneous story, like the detail steps that Dad did to make dinner. I mean just tell me what he made, I don't need a cooking class.
It is a 20 year old daughter, who has been crushing on her Daddy since she was 18. Daddy and Mom are divorced. Mom lives in Minnesota and Daddy lives in Texas. Each year, she spends a month with Daddy. This year she overtly teases Daddy. Eventually she forces Daddy to have a serious conversation, in which she convinces him that the incest would be OK. Daddy relents (of course, without that there would be no story).
This was the hottest part of the story. A couple of rounds with Daddy and daughter. Then they have a 3-some, then a 4-some! All in less than a week.
Then the rest of the story the two of them, along with some others, work out their future living situation.
I won't spoil it, but talking about who else gets involved in the sex or structuring their future, as that is some of the surprise.
If you are into adult incest, this can be a good read, just know there is a bunch of unnecessary story.
