Gorgeous photos from the one of the only western photographer allowed into the backcountry of Bhutan. These are pictures of nature and culture we may never see. Freakin' beautiful. I believe there is a companion book, "Dreams of the Peaceful Dragon: A Journey Through Bhutan", by Katie Hickman, a writer who accompanied Edmunds on this one year journey.

A short view of some of the aspects of Bhutan’s history, with lots of pictures - not just of the holy shrines, dzongs, festivals, etc. - of the life of the Bhutanese people.

A short history of Bhutan followed by gorgeous photographs. I found a like-new used copy to read before our trip to Bhutan in a couple months. The photography is even more spectacular when you consider the author traveled there over 30 years ago--pre-digital, all film. He was very fortunate to be able to travel to the far east and the far north, areas where tourists seldom go, even today.
