Tawanna Sullivan is one of the founders of Kuma2.net, a website that encouraged black lesbians to write erotica. She was raised in Baltimore with a solid foundation in the Baptist church and 80s horror movies. Her short stories have been featured in various anthologies, including Forever Vacancy, Iridescence: Sensuous Shades of Lesbian Erotica, Swing! Adventures in Swinging by Today's Top Erotica Writers, and Life, Love & Lust. Currently living in New Jersey, Tawanna is working on her second novel and finding new ways to make her wife laugh.
I'm not a big fan of short story collections, but this was a very entertaining collection. This collection was well written and distinctive with fleshed out characters I could've kept reading about. The stories were sexy, speculative, and sometimes chilling. Sullivan gives such an interesting range of stories with captivating twist and turns.
My only real complaint would be that a few of the stories didn't read like short stories, but like a narrative that was cut off in the middle.
3.5 stars. A blend of erotica, paranormal and suspenseful tales, I enjoyed the majority of the stories in this short story collection, but a few seemed unfinished or rushed, and one even left me confused. Yet, Tawanna Sullivan has a smooth writing style that I loved. I would like to see what she could do with a fully-fleshed novel.
