Cathy has lived all over North America including Alaska and Canada. She has a unique background, with over 20 years as a college professor where she taught in the business school and published research on marketing. After leaving academia, Cathy started her own consulting business online. Visit her business website at http://CathyGoodwin.com
Cathy began performing stand-up comedy at open mics in Philadelphia and New York around 2015. She realized comedy gave her a platform to advocate for her causes - stereotypes of aging and being single.
Most recently she combined her research skills, edgy storytelling, and comedy to create a book, When I Get Old I Plan To Be A Bitch. You can get the purchase links and trigger warnings at http://CathyGoodwin.com/agebook
To everyone’s surprise, Cathy’s book isn’t just for older women. Millennial males have responded with positive reviews. Younger women use the book as they search for role models.
Cathy’s favorite review comment (on Amazon) was, “My husband saw me reading. He wanted to know if I’d learned to be a bitch.”
Despite the edgy writing (and some strong language), the book actually sends a serious message, backed by research, including information from academic and medical scholarly journals. The book has inspired an instructor who teaches a course on aging as well as younger women who want to share with their mothers and grandmothers.
Cathy is a prolific non-fiction author with 10 books and hundreds of articles on topics such as content creation, online marketing, storytelling, and entrepreneurship. Her book reviews can be found on Goodreads and Amazon.
Since 2011, Cathy has been living in Center City Philadelphia. She lived with dogs for over 20 years but now shares her home with two cats who refuse to share their stories.
A great resource for anyone planning a move or relocation. Takes you step by step through the process of moving: how to decide to move, practical packing/moving-day advice (great checklists!) right through to tips on settling in to a new place. What I loved about this book was that it went into the emotional bonds involved with moving: how to to let go and say goodbye to a place, how to keep in touch with friends/family, how to deal with homesickness for your old life, and how to make the move into a time of personal growth. Part how-to guide and part therapist for those with a life in transition, "Making the Big Move" is a must-read for anyone contemplating a change of scenery.
