A magnificently illustrated volume brings together a myriad of the extraordinary paintings from the collection of the Vatican, offering an unprecedented array of treasures and world-famous masterpieces, all arranged in chronological order and featuring essays by members of the Vatican staff.
Borrowed this from the library of the Episcopalian church in Brunswick yesterday and looked through it last night. Haven't read much of the text, though. Pretty impressive collection, if I do say so myself. ALL classical, needless to say. Includes photos both long and closeup of the frescoes by Raphael and Michelangelo(the Sistine Chapel).
