'In the ideal classroom, love is the silent lesson always being taught. It is not spoken of as much as it is shown, felt, and understood. It is the light that guides children on their path to finding their voice, and once found, to using it with the surety that comes from knowing they are loved, without conditions, without pause.'
My daughters love this book. They take turns reading it to each other and like to comment on the pictures and the journey Bernard the Elephant takes throughout the story. Both the illustrations and writing in this book are simple yet powerful and work perfectly in tandem to convey the story's timeless message. One in which good deeds are contagious and that it only takes a single act of kindness for a good deed to spread. This is the sort of message that children latch on to and a beautiful lesson in morality to pass on, in the same way Bernard passes on his help. Go buy this book. I'd highly recommend it.
