The content and layout of this book is good and the title is catchy and informative, as well. However, I was frequently distracted by the several typos that I found . Better proofreading would increase the value of the reading experience for me.
After reading his book, I know almost nothing about Arnold DeVries except that English is probably not his first language. If the text was proofread at all, it was done by the sort of machine which leaves unchallenged and undisturbed all of those misspelled words which are also correctly spelled words never intended in this context. His writing gushes like a teenager in heat (which does demonstrate his enthusiasm for his subject). Other times, it is simply impenetrable, e.g. "Do not forget to take advantage of the important administrative feature here is the Roles feature." (p. 37) The book contains no information which cannot be found on the many fine webpages produced by WordPress itself to guide trembling website-building virgins. In a paragraph calculated to inspire website creators to upload only their very best writing, DeVries says "Readers do not want to read information from someone who they feel cannot write." (p. 51) This is what happens when CreateSpace, Lulu, SmashWords, BookBaby, and other similar self-publishing services take the editors out of publishing. Where is Bennett Cerf when you need him? Do not buy this book; read the proprietary WordPress web pages instead.
