It was Sweep's birthday and he was going out to with his friend Matthew who was going to buy him a present.
This made Sooty decide that he would make Sweep a surprise birthday cake. This worried Sooty's panda friend Soo as she knew that most of Sooty's ideas meant trouble of some kind. And this one, unfortunately, was no different.
The making of the cake caused problems to begin with but eventually Sooty got it in the oven. But when it came out there were further problems that made matters worse.
Soo could not understand what Sooty was doing when he went to the shed to get some tools out to sort the problem out but Sooty soon showed her what he had in mind. And when Sweep came home he announced that Matthew was going to bring a cake in for them all to share and that he was glad Sooty had not made him a cake. This prompted Sooty to announce, 'A cake? As if we would you something so ordinary?'
The present was certainly extraordinary and Sweep was delighted ... Happy Birthday Sweep!
