Canadian City Flags

Rate this book
Canadian City Flags presents articles on 100 flags from Abbotsford to Yellowknife. It documents the municipal flags from the largest 67 Canadian cities and the largest five cities in each province and territory. Each article provides the adoption date, proportions, description, symbolism, selection process, and designer of each flag, as well as information on other flags of the municipalities. Over 250 color images illustrate the text. Published by the North American Vexillological Association / Association nord-américaine de vexillologie, Canadian City Flags is the long-waited sequel to American City Flags. It reflects the work of over a dozen writers and editors, doing extensive research, writing, artwork, editing, and fact-checking, culminating in a first-of-its-kind volume on the municipal flags of Canada. The articles range from the megacity of Greater Toronto Metro Area, Ontario (with over 5 million people), to the hamlet of Carmacks, Yukon Territory (population 425 in 2006).

An excellent reference book for vexillologists, vexillographers, and the general public! But, as they say, a vexillologist's work is never done, so watch this spot for more to come!
