Eventually, this book brings up some interesting methods for automated composition. But 90% of the material before that is split between describing the MIDI spec and data algorithms for BASIC. I suppose this would be useful for someone who already knows how to compose but doesn't know how to program. If you are looking for valuable insight into generative music systems, look somewhere else.
