I came across Anything For You and have bought it for my niece for Valentine's Day as she loves my cat with all her little heart. The story features a young cat who arrives with a surprise for his girl only to have a gust of wind blow it all away. She watches anxiously as he undertakes a series of daring feats to retrieve all the hearts in her surprise. He then presents her with the basket-full of hearts and explains - "I'll do anything for you... because I love you."
I've got to say, I've only given this two stars because I'm not sure how many children will be that interested in a story about romantic love. It's just not something that's really on a young child's radar. Although technically I suppose this could be about other kinds of love, it just doesn't feel that way. This other cat is described as his "special friend" and we all know what that means!
Anything For You is a nice enough story with nice enough illustration but not a children's book to treasure or to stand out from the crowd.
