Little Landslides: How We Rise Up From Our Pain

Rate this book
Before she was a passionate and accomplished consultant, speaker, coach, and author, Dr. Bridget Cooper straddled the razor's edge between wanting to die and struggling to live. This is her story. This, however, is not your typical memoir. Not only is it an extraordinary story full of horror and hope, but it compels you to take inventory of your own little landslides - the events and circumstances that have reshaped your footing, created a new landscape, and challenged you to stay upright. She offers a proven path out of the darkness. LITTLE LANDSLIDES is: A true tale of domestic violence as told through the eyes of a child. A story about sexual assault as spoken through the voice of an innocent. A commentary on mental illness written by a girl who almost died escaping its grasp.A narrative of addiction's stranglehold on the human condition. The world seems so dark at times, so hopeless. Life offers beauty...and misery. When we hold tight to the latter, it deepens and multiplies, spreading like wildfire, creating the foundation for all human suffering. The stories we tell ourselves about what's happened to us creates our reality. If we change our stories and how we understand them, we change our lives. The author went deep into darkness and emerged into light and she dares you to do the same, equipped with all the lessons she learned the hard way. It turns out that this book offers a little landslide of its very own

If Dr. B didn't switch perspectives while writing, it would be easy to forget that you are reading a true story. Little Landslides will rattle you at times. It's a deep dive into a life that could have ended in disastet. It's tragic. It's heartbreaking. At the same time, Little Landslides is inspiring. If you're paying attention it'll make you a more compassionate and empathetic human. If you share any of the author's experiences in life, Little Landslides will give you hope. Looking forward to reading Pain Rebel next!

Very moving account supporting the value of courage and moral consideration while finding a way to move on from personal challenges. Dr. Cooper shows us the importance of not allowing adversities define us. This is a practical guide on how to achieve the very best you have to offer despite mind-numbing circumstances that would crush a less-hardy spirit. If ever there was a book to chronicle how to "Beat the Odds", this is it!

I downloaded this book and finished it in a day. I couldn't put it down. Was it because this woman has been a friend of mine for over 30 years? That may be why I picked up the book... but her excruciatingly painful and raw story mixed with messages of hope and empowerment were beautifully written and thought provoking. It impacted me in a way that surprised me. It left me pondering over my own demons and gave me pause to consider that there is a better way to cope. Congratulations Dr. Bridget Cooper on another incredible achievement and for being badass enough to help change lives!
