The Xian Incident in which Chiang Kai-Shek was detained by his subordinates in order to temporarily halt his war against the communists in China to turn his attention on the invading imperial Japanese army is a history that I’ve only ever heard from the perspective of the Kuomintang so I was surprised to find this on eBay.
This is written by three eye witnesses on the communist side and of course very much glorifies the role of Zhou Enlai, that said I was pleasantly surprised that even though it is very much seeks to elevate the role that the communists had in this, it still provides a very good account of what led to it, what went on and how it resolved.
