Transforming Fellowship: 19 Brain Skills That Build Joyful Community

Rate this book
Relational brain skills change our lives and transform our relationships. Learn the 19 critical relational skills needed for resilience, peace and joy in every family and community. The Bible and brain science combine to show us active solutions we ordinarily overlook for personal and corporate transformation. Transforming Fellowship tackles the central issue that is destroying the credibility of the Western Church. Our fellowship lacks the transforming power Jesus intended. Through Transforming Fellowship we each actively contribute part of Christ's character to one another. How we think, live and react changes at a basic brain level. Transforming Fellowship develops both deep love and relational skills. Transforming Fellowship is as deeply spiritual as it is practical.

One of the most eye-opening and transformational books I've ever read. I learned a lot about myself, others, and how to grow in cultivating brain skills that lead to joyful living. I also learned a lot about the brain.

I didn’t realize what I was reading until the conclusion, which said something to the effect of, “So this is the LIFE model.”

If I read that right, essentially these 19 skills are the basis of the counseling model Life Model Works. I wish the book would have incorporated familiar counseling theory terms in explaining these skills. I found the verbiage to be unique to this model, which made it hard to put into context of what I already know about neuroscience and other psychological models. I don’t think I am the target audience for the book—it is definitely targeted toward people who are all but already signed up for one of their workshops. There was some practical application, but most often each skill referenced how you would learn it in certain parts of the trainings.

I would like this book, but for therapists.

Helpful to read in a group with leaders practiced in these skills and opportunities to practice them in a safe space. Just to read on it's own, this book wouldn't be as useful.
