Těšil jsem se, že si přečtu staré pražské legendy, které pak při procházce Prahou předám dětem dál. Úplně jsem viděl ty jejich nadšené oči, jak hltají každé slovo. Nebo pobavím známé zajímavou perličkou z Prahy.

Mé očekávání se ale splnilo jen částečně - staré pražské legendy jsem si sice přečetl, nějaké peričky mám z zásobě, ale moc si nedovedu přestavit, že bych většinu z nich předal dál. Minimálně ne v té podobě, v jaké jsou v knížce. Krom několika světlých výjimek (Golem, Mistr hanuš, a podobné klasiky) je velká část příběhů bez zajímavějšího rozuzlení či náboje. Konce příběhů občas vypadají, jako by k příběhu ani nepatřily. Pro mě osobně bylo vyprávění z velké části takové suché a bez jiskry.

Je to celkem škoda - s lepším vypravěčem mohly být příběhy chytlavější a spolu s doprovodnými ilistracemi (které jsou hezké) by měla knížka mnohem větší šanci zaujmout. Takhle to bylo jak učebnice dějepisu - občas zajímavé sdělení, ale žádná extra zábava.

80% van de verhalen volgen hetzelfde stramien: Praagenaar is hebzuchtig, hij wordt gestraft, sterft en hij spookt door de stad tot in de eeuwigheid. Desondanks is het wel een leuke aanvulling op de gidstoer van Emma van Mijn Praag Tours (echt een aanrader; ik kwam bijvoorbeeld te weten dat een naamdag in Tsjechië echt gevierd wordt als een tweede verjaardag en HET WAS MIJN NAAMDAG VANDAAG!).

I bought this on a recent trip to Prague and enjoyed the “revisiting” the mysterious city through these legends. Returning to the city is a goal of mine and looking for some of the items shared in this book could make for a fun citywide game of hide and seek.

Interesting publication tidbit- the table of contents is at the end of the book. I’m not sure if this is standard European style or just specific to this particular book.

Me ha gustado mucho aprender sobre las leyendas de Praga. Además, me resulta curioso que muchas de ellas estén relacionadas con la avaricia y un castigo que resulta casi divino en respuesta a esta.

Es muy cortito, se lee en dos ratos porque los relatos no superan la página de largo y la mitad de las páginas totales son ilustraciones (muy bonitas, por cierto).

2,5 estrellas, en realidad.
Concuerdo con las opiniones de muchos otros usuarios de por aquí: muchas leyendas son muy cortas y les falta contexto para entenderse en plenitud. Por mi parte, añado que la traducción al inglés no siempre es 100% correcta. Eso sí, las ilustraciones son preciosas y creo que, solo por eso, es un buen recuerdo que llevarse de Praga.

Kniha se mi líbila a knihu doporučuji. Některé pověsti jsem znal, tak jsem si je připomněl, jiné byly pro mne neznámé. Autorka mimo jiné čerpala také např. z knihy Staré pověsti české od Aloise Jiráska.

Líbily se mi také ilustrace.

Beautifully illustrated but the stories are very short and without much context - fell a lot may have been lost in translation (bought this from the Kafka museum in Prague a few years ago whilst on holiday).

Libro carino e complessivamente veloce da leggere. Il tempo di decollo dall'areoporto di Praga e atterraggio a Malpensa ed è letto. Carine le leggende inserite, forse un paio sarebbero state più interessanti se non fossero state scritte tipo riassunto, ma ripeto nel complesso è una lettura godibile

I liked the fact that these were brief little stories that people tell to their children in prauge. The illistrations were great. To me it felt almost like I was missing parts of certain stories and context. Which is understandable because it was not originally in my language and they aren't my legends.

It was a good souvenir from my time in Prague.
