Survival Rule #16: Never kiss beneath cursed mistletoe…unbridled passion will get you every time.
Most assume my life is awesome. Why wouldn’t they? As the alpha’s daughter, I’m the fourth-highest ranking wolf beneath him, my mother, and my father’s beta. What they don’t know is that my father and I hate each other. Like full-on teeth-snapping-at-each-other’s-throats hate each other.
Usually, we make it work. Or did—until the bodies started piling up. Now, I’m in charge of the investigation. And here I thought Christmas was supposed to be goodwill and celebrations, not mutilated corpses.
Luckily, I have help. One Evan Knox, officially known as my own personal nightmare. Or daydream. Depends how I spin it. My father hates him, which appeals to me. A lot. Don’t judge.
Problem is: How the hell are we supposed to stop these murders when Knox himself breaks rule #16 and drags me along for the ride?

This book is the perfect holiday read! The pages are full of action and danger, intrigue and betrayal, and love and passion, making the story fast paced and enthralling. I love the characters and the way the author brought them together over the most unlikely of times. Their connection and interactions kept me entertained and invested in the outcome throughout the book. I enjoyed the many twists and turns that led to a perfect Christmas gift, the gift of a HEA. I really hope the author brings us more books like this in the new year because I can’t wait to read them.
Rumor is the Alpha's daughter and sent to investigate a death in the pack. It's one of several deaths. Knox arrives to do his own investigation and comes up with an interesting theory in the case. Can these two solve the case before anyone else dies? This one takes a couple of interesting turns and I really can't wait to read more about the packs, the witches and Fae in this world.
I read this book as part of the Once Upon A Solstice box set and really enjoyed it. I thought the storyline was interesting and the characters were very engaging and worked well together. I enjoyed the humor, the way they fought each other, the suspense, and the sexy-times. Good job Ms. Knight.
I never would have thought it possible. Was it the mistletoe? WOOOOWEEEE!!! Talk about one helluva WOLFTACULAR story!! It's one part sweet, one part hot, one part funny, one part shocking, one part sarcastic, one part playful, one part sad but ALL parts ABSO-RUMOR-LUTELY FAN-KNOX-TASTIC!!! I love, Love, LOVE this World that Gwen has created! All the different paranormal & magical beings, the different rules, laws & "rituals", for lack of a better word, even the way they all behave amongst their own "species" let alone with the others, all enrich & give so much depth to the story that it takes it to the next level! But when combined with the multifaceted characters, intriguing storylines and the lush, perfectly detailed descriptions, this story reaches out to you, holds you tight in its furry grip, pulling you in to live, breathe, love & experience EVERYTHING, not once loosening its hold on you! I connected to this story so quickly and so deeply that here I am more than 2 days after I finished it, and I STILL can't put it down!! I have read it from beginning to end at least 4 times, and have lost count of how many times I have read certain parts over & over again!! I sincerely hope that Gwen continues to write in this WONDERFUR World & series she has created because I don't EVER want to leave it!! In fact, my ONE and ONLY complaint is that the each story isn't long enough and that there isn't 100 books for me to lose myself completely in!! Although with Gwen's FURNOMENAL talent and true gift, any book with her name on it will NEVER be long enough, but you will also know that it will ALWAYS be a keeper, and one worth reading time and time again!! I felt that spark. What was the saying? Once was never enough.
Oh Wow what an absolutely captivating work of art this book is, i adored it!!! I love the author's writing style in this book, there is just something very intimate and personal about it, so it's like a true tale of power, dominance, secrets and full of fighting spirit against situations that others control.
I loved the way this book started, mystery and question from the first sentence, definitely got me hooked on the story straight away! This book is a novella but it doesn't feel that way due to the way it was written. There is no aspect of it being rushed, the whole storyline happens in the way that it is supposed to, the imagination and the creative vision that this book has a very addicting quality to it, making you definitely want to read more of this series and of the author’s work, especially if it's up to this high standard!!!
I loved Rumor, she is such a brilliant character, the thing i loved about her the most was her determination, her stubbornness and her fiery passion for life! She has always had to be strong which has made her the woman that she is, she cares deeply about those she let's in and will protect them to her last breath. I also loved reading about Knox,i loved his character from the start…. you really couldn't get any more Alpha male, he screams it although he keeps this hidden for his own reasons. He is an extremely passionate with protective instincts of those he sees as his to protect.
I adored this book i really did and i am dying to read more of this authors work now, one taste is not enough, pick up this book and you will see what i mean! This is a must read book that i suggest everyone needs to read!!!
Although I am a fan of Gwen Knights I kinda thought this fell a wee bit flat. I needed to have more details about the characters. We really didnt have a chance to know them all that well. It was really difficult to get on board with Knox and Rumor. I mean they disliked each other since they were kids. They both have a lot of resentment and although they were open to fixing things between the pack it just didnt seem to be enough time for that and between wanting each other. I think it went a little too fast as far as being mates went. A relationship starting maybe but not mates. Too much history between the packs to just do that quick of a turnaround. Not that Knox and Rumor "hated" each other but dislike is a good word. This did interest me enough to want to read Juniper and Matias.
A great paranormal who-dun-it that will keep you wondering till almost the end. Rumor is the daughter of the Alpha. He has sent her out to investigate the murders of six werewolves, two from her pack, over the past month. Know is the younger brother of the Alpha from a neighboring pack. He is also investigating the deaths. They discover that cursed mistletoe is the cause. But who cursed it? Why are only wolves affected but not any other supernaturals? When passions rise the curse gets stronger. Can these two find answers without endangering themselves?
Every author has thier own version of how werewolf, fae and other magical creatures are supposed to act or the way they physical makeup or histories are supposed to be. But the core attributes are in place here in this story about a female werewolf and her pack. I liked the characters and the authors descriptions were such o could see the female wolf running through the woods. The story was interesting as well. If there are sequels to this story I would like to read them.
You are never left not enjoying yourself when this writer sits down and writes you a new book to read. You cannot help but fall in love with the couple that isn't suppose to like each other. Suppose to be on opposing sides.
This book was a very exciting rollercoaster ride that had a few twists and turns you never see coming. This book also shows you why you should never push people to mate someone they are not meant for.
Who doesn't love a book that leaves you in happy tears?
This was my first time reading anything by Ms Knight but it certainly won't be the last. Rumor's strong will and spirit made her an appealing heroine and Knox was the perfect alpha male with no abusive tendencies. I can't wait to read Death by Chocolate.
Werewolves of different packs are being murdered. Rumor and Knox join forces to find the murderer. Rumor also must find a mate on the Solstice. They deal with pack politics and their feelings with each other. There are twists and surprises in the plot. If you like werewolves and Christmas mysteries, you will like this quick read.
Rumor is a wolf shifter but she has real world problems. And she has Evan Knox her nemesis following her around intruding into her business. Just when you think you have a handle on their story big baddies show up and twists abound. This is a great afternoon read!
The magic of the season This book is the perfect holiday read!
Rumor Hayes was on the case. Murder this time was her pack mate. She was ask to find the killer. In comes Evan Knox, to her just Knox. Here is the story of Christmas and a cursed love pair Rumor and Knox!
This story is very entertaining with lots of action throughout. Well written self-contained story. Lots of unexpected twist. I recommend this book to read.
