Prior Restraints

All proceeds from this book will be used to assist addicts and alcoholics in recovery. Prior Restraints is a collection of poetry based on Mahony's real life experiences with heroin addiction and mental illness. The poems themselves evolve as Mahony finds her way out of the restraints that formerly held her back: active addiction, homelessness and detainment in a locked psychiatric facility. This collection is meant to inspire anyone who struggles with addiction and/or mental illness, or loves someone who does. The poems allow the reader to fumble through the darkness with her and then finally find the illuminating switch by the final page.
