I’m a full time X-ray technologist living in rural Wisconsin with my farmer husband, our crazy but wonderful children, and our mischevious black lab. My days are always constant chaos so I use it as inspiration and jot down notes whenever I can. I never know when an idea will strike.

History, crime and paranormal romance genres interest me the most, but if it has an intriguing storyline then genre doesn’t matter. When it comes to my own writing, however, I can’t seem to get vampires and the paranormal out of my head. Maybe one day I’ll branch out, but for now I’ll just keep putting parts of myself into the stories to create a unique and unforgettable read.

My Review:
I always wonder how authors arrive at the title for their books. I didn't have to wonder for long with this title, and it seemed to echo in my head the whole time I read the book.

The voice changes throughout the story as we get each character's point of view. There's some vampire violence and there's some hot vampire sex. The writing is a bit stilted at the beginning, but it smooths out and flows much better as the book goes on. There doesn't seem to be a lot of description, so not a lot of visuals here. This is paranormal with dystopian shadows.

The story itself is entirely engaging. Both of the main characters were well developed with really great family histories. John was keeping secrets because of what he was. Hannah thought she was keeping secrets, but there were so many more secrets that had been kept from her. Some of the secondary characters had some good development as well and interacted really well. How could you not love Price? I'm sure Ms. Nennig will have to find a love interest for him in the future. Chris seemed like a character I'd like to know more about, too. Hopefully, we'll see her in the next book.

I think this is an author and a series with great potential. I recommend this book to the paranormal lovers out there. This just came out in December last year, so now we just have to give Alyse time to write Book of Origins #2.

★★★★ ½

What better way to end the month than with a vampire who falls in love with a vampire hunter?! Gaawd this book makes my life complete.

Immediately, we are thrust into the angst. Alyse Nennig is not holding back! Our heroine, Hannah, is a vampire hunter and she has closed off her heart. So much, in fact, that she completely ignores it—does she even have one?

John Trott is our swoony God of sexy, and of course Hannah can’t resist. She tries…but please. He is about to nibble on Hannah’s heart with his vampire hotness. John is ready to trample all over this woman!

“Based on experience you seem to have a hard time resisting me. However, if being charming doesn’t work, I am not opposed to begging…I bid you good night and sweet dreams…perhaps of me.”

John may make Hannah all tingly inside, but (and there is always a but) there’s darkness in store for these two. Baggage. Doubt. Fears. Secrets. Hannah has some seriously negative juju in her pocket, but it’s nothing compared to what John’s carrying on his back. These two are destined to fail from the beginning!

They are opposites—a perfect juxtaposition—yet they perfectly complete one another.

Slowly, Hannah’s story unravels atop John’s and their stories merge into one. They are two individuals drowning in mediocracy and they don’t realize all they could have until they find each other.

Well…until John lies. Why does he have to do this? Gah!

John’s secrets have the capacity to hurt Hannah, he risks everything to protect her…yet he still manages to break her heart. Hannah’s shell of a body has finally started to fill with color, but she’s at risk of being shoved back into living in black and white.

Is that worth it?

Hell naw, girlfriend! You run away from that sexy vampire man STAT.

But can she run? Not after knowing what love feels like…

Oooo friends, Never Again is totally enrapturing from start to finish. The plot is a mix of everything: action, romance, mystery. Things are never as they seem, and Alyse Nennig has beautifully captured the complexity of fate and what one will do for love: everything.

I died inside reading this book and John Trott brought me back to life.

I really enjoyed the dynamic between the characters, Hannah and John. It was great to see them interact, but it also held that "watching a train wreck" feel because you know that once all of the secrets come out everything will absolutely be destroyed. The fact that Hannah was determined to never be burned again, while John was determined to have her made for some very intriguing and sometimes funny scenes. I liked that their background was developed separately, giving the reader true insight into the characters.

I like the fast pace of the vampire action/fight scenes as well as the slow burn of the more intimate scenes.

This was my first read from this author and I really enjoyed it. I would definitely read more.

Hannah is a hunter. Both of her parents were murdered by vampires and she has devoted her life to hunting them ever since. This was a fresh new look at vampires and I enjoyed the story. The characters are well-drawn and the story moves at a decent pace. There are plenty of mysteries to solve along with finding love and enduring friendships. But there are also lies, deceit, and betrayals along the way. Enjoyable and engaging story, highly recommended.

I am a lover of vampire stories and this had a great story in that genre! The author did a great job on the development and the ability to draw you in and keeping you there with the plot, characters and the fact it's a series means the story continues :)
