When Margaret Wingfield, residing at Washington Arms assisted living, tells Maggie, her 28 year old attorney-granddaughter, she plans to give several million dollars to a children’s charity that supports orphans in Africa, Maggie cautions her to be sure the orphanages are legitimate. Intrigued by circumstances at Washington Arms, Maggie launches a personal investigation resulting in new friends, a harrowing death attempt, and the revelation of a well-guarded secret of the charity. The one person Maggie depends on for guidance is Tom Lloyd, senior law partner and uncle to William Handel.
Virginia lawyer Maggie has a grandmother in an assisted living facility in Arlington. Many of the residents are well to do and eventually move to "Third", the new luxury floor in the building. Maggie decides to look into the charity and some of the strange events & deaths that have happened in her grandmother's assisted living on Third. Interesting story by this author in my state.
