Kids of all ages will enjoy this story of inclusion, friendship, and the joyful power of the Arts.
I had a chance to read this book today at the Kensington Day of the Book Festival. The author gave my group a copy and I was told it was great by one of the other members who had just read it.
It is a lovely book with beautiful illustrations that help reinforce the idea that being different is okay. I cannot decide if I preferred reading about Otis the dragon more than the one about Jane the mermaid or not. Both were wonderful flights of imagination. I have had a difficult past few days and this made my world a little bit brighter.
This book was given to our BookCrossing group by one of the authors at the Kensington Day of the Book festival today. Several of us passed the book around and read it during the festival.
It's a fun book with the main message that it's okay to be who you are, even if it isn't like anyone else. The story is told through several stories--one of two good friends who draw chalk pictures and tell stories about them. I especially love that one of the girls The stories within the story are full of color, creativity, and fantasy. They've got flying dragons and princesses and mermaids. It was a fun read with some heartwarming moments.
