A thoroughly enjoyable and fun collection of short horror fiction, Ben Errington is a new writer to me and I enjoyed his accomplished offering!
Some of my favourite stories were Death Throes, Intermission, Illegals, Interview and Alicia - all of which I felt could have been expanded upon and turned into novellas - but Errington does a superb job of offering the reader just enough and then stopping it when he knows he has you hooked!
Illegals was one of my favourite and I’d have loved to have read more, it deals with the here and now, the state of play with illegals and racial tension and the ending is very powerful and reminded me in tone of ‘Night of the Living Dead’ - it’s bold and fierce and a gem in the collection!
A quick read but a great entertaining one at that!
