But the powerful attraction between them was clouded by the secrets of Nicholas's past.
Katherine Arthur was a romance novelist from 1985 to 1992. She was full of life. She described herself as a writer, research associate (she works with her husband, a research professor in experimental psychology), farmer, housewife, proud mother of five and a grandmother to boot. The family was defintely full of overachievers. She is also known as Barbara Erickson.
This was a good story, but a few things kept me from giving it another star. I thought the H wanting to keep his facial scars as a matter of principle was a bit too melodramatic and the same does for the h bursting into tears (not to mention fainting) once too often.
And I did NOT like the villain of the story getting away with a slap on the wrist, and his lame apology didn't convince me a bit. Considering all that he put the H through (as well as other people), and the shallowness of his motivation, this guy needed to have his butt kicked off the face of the earth, not an "Aw shucks, we all make mistakes."
But worst of all was the death of all those horses!!! That was AWFUL!!!
It was a good story and without those things would have been a four-star rating, maybe even five.
