I first read this as a school librarian more than 30 years ago and never forgot it and now reread it. It is superb—tackling Vietnam PTSD, racism, terrorism, high school sports with honesty and humor and first-rate characterization. It’s a blot on American publishing that it’s out of print.

This young adult mystery is a fabulous read and one I keep returning to. While it's considered a young adult novel, I recommended it to many adults who enjoyed it as much as I did.

Reaver died not long after his third book was published. So while his career as a writer was short, at least we have these books of his to enjoy.

A teenage boy tries to solve the mystery of a group who want to impose their racist agenda. A good story, humorous in places.
